The Mediterranean Games is a multi-sport event organised by the International Committee of Mediterranean Games (CIJM). It is held every four years among athletes from countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea in Africa, Asia and Europe. The first Mediterranean Games were held in 1951 in Alexandria, Egypt, while the most recent games were held in 2022 in Oran, Algeria.
The Albania men's national volleyball team is the national volleyball team of Albania. As of December 2021, the team is ranked 78th in the world. They have competed in many European and world volleyball championships, but as of October 16, 2021, are yet to win a gold medal.
The badminton tournaments at the 2018 Mediterranean Games took place between 23 and 26 June at the El Morell Pavilion in El Morell, Tarragona. This was the second time that badminton events held at the Mediterranean Games.
Luca Maresca is an Italian karateka. He won the gold medal in the men's kumite 67 kg event at the 2019 European Games held in Minsk, Belarus. Four years earlier, he won the silver medal in the men's kumite 60 kg event at the 2015 European Games held in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Ramzi Bahloul is a Tunisian weightlifter. He represented Tunisia at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. He competed in the men's 81 kg event.
Hocine Daikhi is an Algerian karateka. He is a two-time medalist, including gold, at the Mediterranean Games, a silver medalist at the African Games and a bronze medalist at the Islamic Solidarity Games. He has also won medals in individual and team events at several editions of the African Karate Championships.
