Tuomo Arto Mikael Karila (born 7 April 1968) is a Finnish former Olympic wrestler. [1] He was born in Helsinki, Uusimaa, Finland. [1] His nickname is Tuoppi. [1]

Wrestling career

His sports club was Vantaan Sampo, in Vantaa, in Finland. [1]

In 1986, he won the Minnesota high school Class A 155-pound wrestling title as an 18-year-old exchange student at Canby High School, after a 29-3-1 season wrestling in three different weight classes. [2]

He won silver medals at the 1990 and 1991 European Championships at 74.0 kg. in Greco-Roman wrestling. [1]

Karila competed for Finland at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, at the age of 24, in Wrestling--Men's Welterweight (74 kg), Greco-Roman. [1]

He won a silver medal at the 1994 World Wrestling Championships at 82.0 kg. in Greco-Roman wrestling. [1]

Karila competed for Finland at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta at the age of 28, in Wrestling--Men's Middleweight (82 kg), Greco-Roman, and came in 11th. [1]

David Vála is an amateur Czech Greco-Roman wrestler, who competed in the men's heavyweight category. He won a silver medal in his division at the 2007 European Wrestling Championships in Moscow, Russia, losing out to Russian wrestler and former Olympic champion Khasan Baroyev. Throughout his sporting career, Berzicza trained as part of the wrestling team for Kecskemét Gymnastics Club, under his father and personal coach Ferenc Berzicza.

Juha Matti Ahokas is a retired amateur Finnish Greco-Roman wrestler, who competed in the men's super heavyweight category. Ahokas has won thirty Finnish championship titles, collected four medals at the European Championships, and also represented his nation Finland in four editions of the Olympic Games. Throughout his sporting career, Ahokas trained for Nurmon Jymy Wrestling Club in Seinäjoki under his father and personal coach Risto Ahokas.
