Tuulo Samakaab or Tuula Samakaab is a village in the Sool Region, currently under the control of Khatumo State forces. [2]

It is situated in the middle of the road connecting Guumays and Las Anod. Furthermore, it serves as the starting point of the road that connects to the Buhoodle District.

In August 2016, Somaliland President Silanyo visited Tuulo Samakaab and participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the mother and child care center. [3]

In June 2017, the Governor of Sool notified to the IDP camp residents to relocate from Kaamamka Dhiirigoob, Ceelmidgaan, Siixawle, and Kalberdaale to their previous residence, Yagori, Tuulo Samakaab, and Adhi'adeye, in accordance with an order from the Ministry of Interior. [4]

In January 2018, Somaliland forces built new bases in Dabataag and Tuulo Samakaab to attack Khatumo forces. [5]

In November 2018, Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi attended the project launch ceremony in Tuulo Samakaab. [6]

In August 2019, reconstruction work began on the road between Tuulo Samakaab and Adhi'adeye, which was damaged by heavy rains. [7]

In January 2020, Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi announced in his New Year's State of the Nation address that major repairs had been made to the roads connecting Las Anod, Tuula-Samakaab, and Adhi'adeye. [8] The President said the same thing in his February speech to Parliament. [9]

In October 2020, road construction began connecting Tuula Smakaab, Widhwidh and Goonle was started. Tuulo Smakaab is located in the middle of the main road that passes through the center of Somaliland and the Sool region, and when completed, this road will provide convenient transportation from the center of Somaliland to the Buhoodle District. [10]

Tuulo Samakaab was captured on August 25, 2023, by Khatumo State forces after successfully displacing Somaliland forces from Las Anod. [11] [12]

Buuhoodle, also known as Bohotle, is the largest city in the togdheer region of Somalia. It serves as a significant border town for the movement of goods between Somalia and the Somali Region of Ethiopia. The surrounding district is rich in livestock with growing agricultural activities.

Hudun is a historical town in the eastern Sool region of Somaliland, and the seat of the Hudun District. Somaliland has effectively controlled there since around 2013, but Puntland also has a territorial claim.

Widhwidh, also known as Widh Widh, is a town located in the Buuhoodle district of Togdheer, Somaliland.

Karin Dabayl Weyn is a village in the southern Sool, Somaliland roughly halfway between Weylahayd to the north, and Qoriley to the south.

Gambadhe is a town in the Sool region of Somaliland. A dry port has been constructed in the town. The town is located roughly 30km southeast of the city of Las Anod.

Ahmed Abdi Mohamud Sugulle "Habsade" is a Puntland and Somaliland politician. He was a decorated Colonel in the Somali Armed Forces and the second in command of the Somali Custodial Corps equivalent to that of the Italian Arma dei Carabinieri but the Custodial Corps fall under the Ministry of the Interior and are part of the Police Force. A politician and respected elder later in life (he was instrumental in the founding of Somaliland and became the Speaker of the Somaliland House of Representatives. In 1998, he was appointed Minister of the Interior of Puntland but was dismissed in 2007 after a conflict with Mohamud Muse Hersi, who became President of Puntland in 2006. In 2007, he brought Somaliland troops into Las Anod, leading to Somaliland's effective control of the Sool region. He served as various Somaliland Ministers of state from 2008. In 2014, Abdiweli Gaas became President of Puntland and he come back to Puntland.

The Las Anod conflict is an ongoing armed conflict between the Somaliland National Army and the SSC-Khatumo forces of the Dhulbahante in Las Anod, the capital of the Sool region. Fighting erupted on February 6 after Somaliland security forces held a violent crackdown on civil protests. On February 8, the supreme Garad of Dhulbahante, Garad Jama Garad Ali, declared an intent to secede and reunite with the Federal Government of Somalia.
