Yagori (Somali : Yagoori, Yaguri) is a town in the northern Sool Region of [3] Somalia. [4]
In January 1991, a peace conference was held in Yagori under the leadership of the Somali National Movement (later the government of Somaliland), and Habr Je'lo, Habar Yoonis, and Dhulbahante clans participated. [5]
In July 2002, the Somaliland army deployed 450 troops in Yagori. The governor of Puntland's Sool region, who was in Las Anod at the time, condemned the move, saying it would split the Harti clan. [6]
In 2005, elections were held in Somaliland, in Yagori town, which is controlled by the Somaliland Armed Forces, but even within Yagori district there were places where elections were not held. [7] : 9
In August 2016, President Silanyo visited Yagori. [8]
In April 2019, a prison commander and a deputy commander of a police station of Somaliland were murdered in Yagori. [9] In December 2021, a peace conference between Jaamac Siyaad and Ugaadhyahan, both branches of Dhulbahante, [10] took place in Yagori. [11] The Somaliland Minister of Interior was present at the conference. [12]
In December 2021, a peace conference between the Jama Siyad and Ugadhyahan clans was held; Garad Jama Garad Ismail Duale declared the conference open. [13]
In January 2022, the warring Jama Siyad and Mohamed Siyad clans agreed to a peace conference in Yagori. [14]
In October 2022, the Somaliland Minister of Health visited Yagori to witness the opening of a new health facility. [15]
In May 2023, SSC-Khatumo claimed to have occupied Yagori. [16] [17]
A book published in 1951 states that the clans that was grazing livestock in Yagori were Yesif, Adan Madoba, Idleh Farah of Habr Je'lo, and Yahia, Ahmed Gerad, Jama Siad, and rer Elmi of Dhulbahante. [19]
The adjacent Afbakayle locals were raided by Eric Swayne and these were said to be Jama Siad livestock in 1901: [18]

The city is now primarily inhabited by the Jama Siad sub-clan, with the Reer Warsame well represented, as well as the Elmi Naleye "Reer Cilmi" sub-lineage of the Naleye Ahmed. [20]
Yagori was during the colonial era a part of Nogal District, described by John Hunt as an "entirely Dolbahanta" district. [21]
Sool is an administrative region (gobol) in eastern Somaliland. It borders Togdheer to the west, Sanaag to the north, Ethiopia to the south and Nugal, Bari to the east. Its capital city is Las Anod. The region is disputed by the self-declared Republic of Somaliland and SSC-Khatumo. The region is partially controlled by both polities.
Las Anod is the administrative capital of the Sool region, currently controlled by Khatumo State forces aligned with Somalia.
The Dhulbahante is a Somali clan family, part of the Harti clan which itself belongs to the largest Somali clan-family — the Darod. They are the traditional inhabitants of the physiographic Nugaal in its topographic sense, and its pre-independence administrative sense, which included Doollo. The clan's progenitor is buried at Badweyn.
Taleh is a historical town in the eastern Sool region of SSC Khaatumo. As of September 2015, both Khatumo and Somalia had nominal influence or control in Taleh and it's vicinity. The town served as the capital of the pre-independence Dervish movement.

Buuhoodle, also known as Bohotle, is the largest city in the Togdheer region of Somalia. It serves as a significant border town for the movement of goods between Somalia and the Somali Region of Ethiopia. The surrounding district is rich in livestock with growing agricultural activities.
Horufadhi is a town in the Togdheer region of Somalia which comes under the Buhoodle District.
Garad Jama Garad Ali is the 21st supreme traditional clan Sultan (Garaad) of the Dhulbahante. He has significant influence in Somalia's current politics, particularly in North Somalia.

Adhi'adeye or Ade Adeeye is a town in the Sool region of Somalia currently under the control of Khatumo State forces. It is around 30 miles northwest of Las Anod, the regional capital of Sool.
The Mohamoud Garad is a Somali clan. Its members form a part of the Dhulbahante, a sub-division of the Harti/Darod clan-family. The clan is divided into three main sub-clans ― namely the Jama Siad, the Ugaadhyahan and Omar Wa’eys.
The Farah Garad or the Garad Farah is a Somali clan which is part of the Dhulbahante clan-family, a sub-division of the larger Harti/Darod clan. The Farah Garad are divided into two sub-clans — Yassin Garad and Abdalla Garad. Abdalla has four clan eponyms, Ahmed Garad, Mohamed Garad (Baharsame), Guled Garad (Barkad) and Ali Garad. They are largely significant in Sool and Togdheer regions of Somalia, and Dollo Somali region of Ethopia.
Cayn or Ayn is an administrative region that Puntland unilaterally declared to be established in the 2000s. However, there is Somaliland between Cayn and Puntland, and they do not directly border each other. Somaliland has legally designated this area as its territory as Buhoodle District. SSC-Khatumo, which declared its secession from Somaliland in 2023, claims the territories of Sanaag, Sool, and Cayn, as its name implies, and effectively controls Buuhoodle.
Ahmed Abdi Mohamud Sugulle "Habsade" is a Puntland and Somaliland politician. He was a decorated Colonel in the Somali Armed Forces and the second in command of the Somali Custodial Corps equivalent to that of the Italian Arma dei Carabinieri but the Custodial Corps fall under the Ministry of the Interior and are part of the Police Force. A politician and respected elder later in life (he was instrumental in the founding of Somaliland and became the Speaker of the Somaliland House of Representatives. In 1998, he was appointed Minister of the Interior of Puntland but was dismissed in 2007 after a conflict with Mohamud Muse Hersi, who became President of Puntland in 2006. In 2007, he brought Somaliland troops into Las Anod, leading to Somaliland's effective control of the Sool region. He served as various Somaliland Ministers of state from 2008. In 2014, Abdiweli Gaas became President of Puntland and he come back to Puntland.
Guumays (Guumeys) is a village in the Sool region currently under the control of Khatumo State forces.
Tuulo Samakaab or Tuula Samakaab is a village in the Sool Region, currently under the control of Khatumo State forces.
The Las Anod conflict is an ongoing armed conflict between the Somaliland National Army and the SSC-Khatumo forces of the Dhulbahante in Las Anod, the capital of the Sool region. Fighting erupted on February 6 after Somaliland security forces held a violent crackdown on civil protests. On February 8, the supreme Garad of Dhulbahante, Garad Jama Garad Ali, declared an intent to secede and reunite with the Federal Government of Somalia.

The Nogal (Las Anod) District defined in 1944. This was supposed to have been done for administrative convenience, but the somewhat crooked boundary between the Burao and Nogal districts suggests that it was intended to make the Las Anod-Nogal District an entirely Dolbahanta Tribal District ... All the Dolbahanta have been Las Anod District since 1944, except for the Naleya Ahmed of the Ogadyahan Siad ... remaining in Erigavo District
