Tyler Smith (born August 20, 1998) is a Canadian curler from Hunter River, Prince Edward Island. He currently plays skip for his own team. [2]
At the age of 11, Smith got the opportunity to compete as a skip at the 2011 Canada Winter Games. [3] Smith then also got the opportunity to compete in the 2015 Canada Winter Games, representing PEI as the skip. [4]
Smith made his debut at the Brier, the Canadian men's national championship, in 2021. He got the opportunity to play as the third for PEI-veteran Eddie MacKenzie. They finished the Brier with a record of 1–7, only beating Peter Mackey of Nunavut. [5]
Smith made his debut as a skip at the Brier in 2022 through an automatic berth due to the tournament getting cancelled over the COVID-19 pandemic. In the tournament that year, Smith once again finished with a record of 1–7. This year he only beat Nathan Young of Newfoundland and Labrador. [6]
In 2023, Smith returned to the PEI Men's Curling Championship. He got through the 2023 PEI Tankard easily, by making the Darren Higgins rink forfeit in the finals. At the Brier that year, he finished with an improved 2–6 record. [7]
In 2024, Smith won all three events in the 2024 PEI Tankard and qualified for the Brier once again. They started off with a 4–1 record, and finished with an 5–3 record and barely missed out on the playoffs. [8]

Bradley Raymond Gushue, ONL is a Canadian curler from St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. Gushue, along with teammates Russ Howard, Mark Nichols, Jamie Korab and Mike Adam, represented Canada in curling at the 2006 Winter Olympics, where they won the gold medal by defeating Finland 10–4. He also represented Canada at the 2022 Winter Olympics, where he won a bronze medal. In addition to the Olympics, Gushue won the 2017 World Men's Curling Championship with teammates Mark Nichols, Brett Gallant, and Geoff Walker. He is a record six-time Brier champion skip, having won in 2017, 2018, 2020, 2022, 2023 and 2024 all with Nichols, Gallant and Walker, except for 2023 and 2024 with E. J. Harnden replacing Gallant. Their win in 2017 was Newfoundland and Labrador's first Brier title in 41 years. At the 2018 Tim Hortons Brier, Gushue set a new record for Brier game wins as a skip, breaking a three-way tie with previous record-holders Russ Howard and Kevin Martin.
Glenn William Howard is a retired Canadian curler who is one of the most decorated curlers of all time. He has won four world championships, four Briers and 17 Ontario provincial championships, including a record eight straight, from 2006 to 2013. He has made 20 Brier appearances, playing in a total of 227 games, the third most of any curler. He has won a career 14 Grand Slams, won the 2001 TSN and 2013 Dominion All-Star Skin Games and the 2010 Canada Cup of Curling.
Bryan Cochrane is a Canadian curler from Russell, Ontario. Cochrane is most notable for winning the 2019 World Senior Curling Championships for Canada, and skipping team Ontario at the 2003 Nokia Brier and later team PEI at the 2020 Tim Hortons Brier.

The 2023 Tim Hortons Brier, Canada's national men's curling championship, was held from March 3 to 12 at the Budweiser Gardens in London, Ontario. The defending champion Team Canada rink, skipped by Brad Gushue won the event, and would go on to represent Canada at the 2023 World Men's Curling Championship on home soil at TD Place Arena in Ottawa, Ontario, where they won a silver medal. It was a record fifth Brier title as a skip for Gushue.
