Tyrone Nurse (born 4 January 1990) is a British professional boxer. He held the British super lightweight title from 2015 to 2017 and challenged once for the Commonwealth super lightweight title in 2014.
From Huddersfield, Nurse made his professional debut in March 2008 with a win over Kristian Laight. After winning his first 20 fights, he competed in the Prizefighter tournament in 2012, losing in the final to Adil Anwar, his first defeat as a professional. Nurse was born to an English father and a Jamaican mother. [1]
In February 2013 he stopped Joe Elfidh in the second round to take the vacant BBBofC Central Area super lightweight title, [2] and in September 2013 was due to face Shayne Singleton for the vacant English title. Singleton pulled out of the fight after failing to make the weight, with Nurse beating late replacement Krzysztof Szot on points. [3] In April 2014 he got his title shot and beat Tyler Goodjohn by unanimous decision to take it. [4] [5]
In October 2014 he faced Dave Ryan for the vacant Commonwealth super lightweight title, losing narrowly on points. [6]
With the British title having been vacated by Willie Limond, Nurse faced Chris Jenkins for the title in July 2015 at the Manchester Arena, the fight ending as a majority draw. [7] They met again in November with Nurse getting a unanimous decision to become British champion. [8] [9] [10]

Jamie Arthur is a former professional boxer. Born in Scotland, Arthur moved to Wales at a young age and took up boxing. He was selected to represent Wales at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester in the men's lightweight division. After winning his opening four bouts, Arthur defeated Denis Zimba in the gold medal match to become the first Welsh fighter to win gold at the games for more than 40 years.
The Prizefighter series was a professional boxing tournament created by boxing promoter Barry Hearn and aired on Sky Sports. The format has an initial eight fighters, who compete in four quarter-finals of 3 x 3 minute rounds followed by two semi-finals and one final all on the same night. The total prize money of the tournament is £80,000 with the winner of the tournament taking home £32,000, a figure that has increased from the initial top prize of £25,000 when the tournament first aired in April 2008. There have been 34 Prizefighter tournaments so far featuring 14 different weight divisions. The last tournament was held in 2015.
Colin Lynes is a British former professional boxer who competed from 1998 to 2017. He held the IBO super lightweight title from 2004 to 2005. At regional level, he held the British super lightweight title in 2007; the EBU European super lightweight title from 2007 to 2008; and the British welterweight title from 2011 to 2012.
David Barnes is a British former professional boxer who competed from 2001 to 2015. He held the British welterweight title from 2003 to 2004 and the British super lightweight title in 2008.
Lee "Aberdeen Assassin" McAllister is a Scottish professional boxer nicknamed the "Aberdeen Assassin". McAllister held the Commonwealth lightweight and light-welterweight titles, the IBO International light-welterweight title, and challenged once each for the European and British titles. He captured the junior-middleweight WBU World Championship on 5 October 2019 against Richmond Djarbeng by 2nd-round TKO. Lee is also a very successful promoter; Assassins Promotions boxing, which holds events in his hometown of Aberdeen, where he also runs and operates a very prestigious boxing gym called Assassin's Health & Fitness. On 22 July 2018 he fought his most high-profile fight whenever he moved up 5 weight classes and challenged British WBU #1 contender Danny Williams, who beat Mike Tyson, in eerily similar fashion; McAllister dominated Williams and KO'd him in round 10 to become the WBU Heavyweight champion of the world.
Ryan Brawley is a Scottish professional boxer fighting in the lightweight division. He was the winner of the sixth Prizefighter tournament featuring boxers in the lightweight category.
Jon-Lewis Dickinson is from Edmondsley in County Durham and is a British former professional boxer who competed from 2008 to 2016. He held the British cruiserweight title from 2012 to 2014 and challenged once for the Commonwealth cruiserweight title in 2014.
Josh Taylor is a Scottish professional boxer. He is a former undisputed light-welterweight champion, having held the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and World Boxing Association (WBA) titles between 2019 and 2022, the World Boxing Council (WBC) title between 2021 and 2022, the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) title between 2021 and 2023 and the Ring magazine title between 2019 and 2023. At regional level, he held the Commonwealth light-welterweight title from 2016 to 2017. As an amateur, he won a lightweight silver medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and light-welterweight gold at the 2014 edition.
Adil Anwar is a former British professional boxer who competed from 2007 to 2017. He won the English welterweight title in 2011 and challenged for the British super lightweight title in 2013.
Chris Jenkins is a Welsh professional boxer who held the British and Commonwealth welterweight titles between 2019 and 2021.
Terry Flanagan is a British former professional boxer. He held the WBO lightweight title from 2015 to 2017, becoming the first Englishman to win a world title in that weight class. He won the Prizefighter lightweight tournament in 2012, held the British lightweight title in 2014, and has challenged once for the WBO light-welterweight title in 2018.
Tommy Coyle is a British former professional boxer who competed from 2009 to 2019. He held the Commonwealth lightweight title in 2018, and has challenged once for the British light-welterweight title in 2016. He is the older brother of Hull City footballer Lewie Coyle.
Colin Powers is a British former boxer who was British light welterweight champion between 1977 and 1979 and European champion in 1978.
Klara Svensson is a Swedish professional boxer. She held the WBC interim light-welterweight title from 2014 to 2015, the WBC interim welterweight title from September 2016 to February 2017, and challenged for the undisputed welterweight title in the same month. As an amateur she is a five-time Swedish national champion, a two-time medallist at the European Championships and a three-time medallist at the World Championships, all in the light-welterweight division.
Marcus Ellis is a British badminton player. He was the men's doubles champion in the English National Championships. Ellis and Chris Langridge won a bronze medal in the men's doubles at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, also gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.
