The basketball tournaments of UAAP Season 69 started on July 8, 2006 at the Araneta Coliseum and ended on October 2, 2006 also at the same venue with the UST Growling Tigers defeating the Ateneo Blue Eagles in the third game of their Finals series.
The Ateneo Blue Eaglets triumphed over the FEU-FERN Baby Tamaraws to win the Juniors' championship, while the UST Tigresses won over the FEU Lady Tamaraws in the Women's Championship. In the Men's championship, the UST Growling Tigers rallied in the Finals series to beat the Ateneo Blue Eagles, 2 games to 1 to win their 19th basketball championship. Kenneth Bono of the Adamson Soaring Falcons, Bacon Austria of Ateneo and Cassy Tioseco of Ateneo won the Most Valuable Player awards.

UAAP Season 69 was the 2006–07 season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. The University of the East was the season host with the theme “Achieving Excellence in Sports Through Unity, Harmony and Commitment.” The season started with basketball competition on July 8, 2006 at the Araneta Coliseum.
UAAP Season 71 was the 2008–2009 season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. The University of the Philippines (UP) hosted this season, which coincided with the centennial anniversary of the University's establishment. It opened on July 5, 2008 with an elaborate ceremony held at the Araneta Coliseum.
The basketball tournaments of University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 70 started on July 7, 2007, at the Araneta Coliseum with University of Santo Tomas (UST) Rector Very Rev. Fr. Ernesto Arceo, O.P. delivering the speech. Manuel V. Pangilinan of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas and United States ambassador to the Philippines Kristie Kenney were the guests.
The UAAP Season 70 volleyball tournaments opened December 1, 2007 and ended March 2, 2008. The tournament host is University of the Philippines. Tournament games were held at the Ateneo de Manila Blue Eagle Gym, Rizal Memorial Coliseum, Ninoy Aquino Stadium and University of the East Gymnasium.
The men's basketball tournaments of UAAP Season 69 started on July 8, 2006 at the Araneta Coliseum and ended on October 2, 2006 also at the same venue with the UST Growling Tigers defeating the Ateneo Blue Eagles in the third game of their Finals series. Ateneo finished first in the elimination round. They eliminated the Adamson Soaring Falcons, who are in their Final Four debut, in the semifinals. UST finished tied for third in the eliminations and had to beat the 2nd seed UE Red Warriors twice in order to qualify at the Finals.

The University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 73 basketball tournaments are the basketball events of UAAP's 2010-11 season. The basketball season began on July 10, 2010 at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City with an opening ceremony hosted by De La Salle University, followed by a couple of men's basketball games. Hosts De La Salle Green Archers defeated the UP Fighting Maroons, and the UST Growling Tigers defeated the UE Red Warriors in the last game of the day.

UAAP Season 79 is the 2016–2017 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). This season, hosted by the University of Santo Tomas officially opened on September 3, 2016. The opening ceremony was held at the UST Plaza Mayor at 3:00 pm with the formal introduction of ballroom dancing as a demonstration sport in this season by the host school University of Santo Tomas (UST) at España, Manila. The official ceremony started at 5:00 pm as there was a concert party themed "Dare to Dream" where the official theme song for the season was revealed. However, unlike in the previous years when the first double-header basketball games were held following the opening ceremonies, this year it was held the following day, September 4 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The basketball tournaments started with a doubleheader basketball games after the opening ceremonies on September 5, 2015, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum and ended on December 2, 2015, at the Mall of Asia Arena, while the junior's basketball has currently been held since November. ABS-CBN's UHF channel ABS-CBN Sports and Action broadcast the men's tournament for the sixteenth consecutive year.
