The basketball tournaments of University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 70 started on July 7, 2007, at the Araneta Coliseum with University of Santo Tomas (UST) Rector Very Rev. Fr. Ernesto Arceo, O.P. delivering the speech. Manuel V. Pangilinan of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas and United States ambassador to the Philippines Kristie Kenney were the guests.
Former UST Growling Tigers basketball player Ed Cordero is the season's commissioner. The theme is "Winners All, Recreating the Value of Honesty through Sports" [1] The Studio 23 coverage uses the theme "Madrama" (Tagalog for "full of drama").
Despite a 14–0 sweep by the University of the East (UE) Red Warriors in the elimination round, they were in turn swept by the De La Salle University-Manila Green Archers 2–0 in the finals after UE had a half-a-month's rest. De La Salle Santiago Zobel School (DLSZ) Junior Archers clinched their second championship by beating the Ateneo High School Blue Eaglets with their own 2–0 sweep. Ateneo took home the women's championship with their own version of a sweep against the University of the Philippines Lady Maroons.

UAAP Season 71 was the 2008–2009 season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. The University of the Philippines (UP) hosted this season, which coincided with the centennial anniversary of the University's establishment. It opened on July 5, 2008 with an elaborate ceremony held at the Araneta Coliseum.
The basketball tournaments of UAAP Season 69 started on July 8, 2006 at the Araneta Coliseum and ended on October 2, 2006 also at the same venue with the UST Growling Tigers defeating the Ateneo Blue Eagles in the third game of their Finals series.

The basketball season began on July 10, 2010 at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City with an opening ceremony hosted by De La Salle University, followed by a couple of men's basketball games. Hosts De La Salle Green Archers defeated the UP Fighting Maroons, and the UST Growling Tigers defeated the UE Red Warriors in the last game of the day.

There were eight universities that competed in fifteen sports with poomsae, a form in the sport of taekwondo now recognized as a regular sport and included in the general championship tally.
The basketball tournaments of UAAP Season 76 were held in school year 2013-14. Adamson University was both season host and basketball tournaments host. As season host, Adamson was the producer of the opening ceremony on June 29, 2013. As to being tournament host, Adamson was responsible for the scheduling of games, booking of game venues and distribution of game tickets to member schools. The other responsibility of Adamson as tournament host was the nomination of a basketball tournament commissioner to the UAAP Board for approval.
