Ukraine competed at the 2019 Military World Games held in Wuhan, China from 18 to 27 October 2019. According to the official results athletes representing Ukraine won five gold medals, 13 silver medals and 15 bronze medals; instead, the medal count appears to be 32 rather than 33 (see below). The country finished in 10th place in the medal table.

The World Games, first held in 1981, are an international multi-sport event, meant for sports, or disciplines or events within a sport, that are not contested in the Olympic Games. The World Games are organised and governed by the International World Games Association (IWGA), recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The World Games are held every four years, one year after the Summer Olympic Games. The next host city will be Birmingham, United States in 2021 then Chengdu, China in 2025.
The 2014 Winter Paralympics, the 11th Paralympic Winter Games, and also more generally known as the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Winter Games, were an international multi-sport event for athletes with disabilities governed by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), held in Sochi, Krasnodar Krai, Russia from 7 to 16 March 2014. 45 National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) participated in the Games, which marked the first time Russia ever hosted the Paralympics. The Games featured 72 medal events in five sports, and saw the debut of snowboarding at the Winter Paralympics.
The 2009 World Games, the eighth edition of the World Games, were an international multi-sport event held in Kaohsiung, Taiwan from 16 July 2009 to 26 July 2009. The games featured sports that are not contested in the Olympic Games.
Olha Saladuha is a Ukrainian triple jumper. Since the 2019 Ukrainian parliamentary election she is a member of the Ukrainian parliament.
Vadim Gutzeit is a Ukrainian sabre fencer, who was team Olympic champion in 1992, and won a bronze medal in the 1991 World Fencing Championships. He has been an international referee for the FIE since 2002. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the FIE in 2013.
Bodybuilding was an event which took place at the World Games 2009 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The event took place from July 18–19, 2009. The competition included both men's and women's events for seven different weight categories. It was conducted by the International Federation of BodyBuilding & Fitness.
Vita Semerenko is a Ukrainian biathlete. She is Olympic champion in women's relay, Olympic medalist and multiple World championships medalist. She is one of the most successful Ukrainian winter athletes.
Track and field is one of the sports at the quadrennial Military World Games competition. Track and field competitions have been held at every one of the eleven editions of the Military World Games, which was inaugurated in 1995.
The World Combat Games are an international multi-sport event featuring combat sports and martial arts. Fifteen Olympic and non-Olympic sports are currently on the programme: aikido, boxing, fencing, judo, ju-jitsu, karate, kendo, kickboxing, Muay Thai, Pankration, sambo, savate, sumo, taekwondo, wrestling and wushu.
Ukraine made its Paralympic Games début at the 1996 Summer Paralympics in Atlanta, with thirty athletes competing in archery, track and field, powerlifting, swimming, and sitting volleyball. Vasyl Lishchynskyy won Ukraine's first Paralympic gold medal, in the shot put, and Ukrainians also won four silver medals and two bronze. Ukrainians had previously participated within the Soviet Union's delegation in 1988, and as part of the Unified Team in 1992. Ukraine, following its independence from the Soviet Union, missed out on the 1994 Winter Games, but made its Winter Paralympics début at the 1998 Winter Games in Nagano. Ukraine has competed at every edition of the Summer and Winter Games since then and have done so with remarkable success.

The National Olympic Committee of Ukraine sent a total of 238 athletes, split equally between men and women, to compete in 21 sports.

Mate Nemeš is a Serbian Greco-Roman wrestler. In 2019 he won one of the bronze medals in the 67 kg event at the 2019 World Wrestling Championships held in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan. In 2019 he also represented Serbia at the 2019 European Games and he won one of the bronze medals in the 67 kg event.
