Uli Vos (2 September 1946 – 1 December 2017) was a German field hockey player. [1] [2] At the 1972 Munich Olympics, Vos was a member of the gold-medal winning West German field hockey team. [1] [3] He also played at club level for Gladbacher HTC. [4]
The field hockey competition at the 1976 Summer Olympics, which was held in the Percival Molson Memorial Stadium at the McGill University, on an artificial surface for the first time. Only a men's competition occurred.

Major Dhyan Chand was an Indian field hockey player, widely regarded as one of the greatest field hockey players in history. He was known for his extraordinary ball control and goal-scoring feats, in addition to earning three Olympic gold medals, in 1928, 1932 and 1936, during an era where India dominated field hockey. His influence extended beyond these victories, as India won the field hockey event in seven out of eight Olympics from 1928 to 1964.
Andreas "Andy" Kapp is a German curler from Unterthingau. After a number of several tournaments at the Junior, Olympic and World Championship levels, Kapp surprised many by winning the 1992 European championship. The next year however, he finished only 7th, but at the 1994 World Championships he and his team won the bronze medal. The next year, Kapp would go on to win the bronze medal once again. Two years later, at the 1997 World Championships, Kapp achieved his best showing at a World Championship, as he led his team to a silver medal, losing to Sweden's Peja Lindholm in the final. Kapp would also win his second European championships in December that year, soon before the first ever official medal Olympics for curling in Nagano. He would have a disappointing 1998 Olympics though where as one of the top medal favorites he went 1-6, finishing in last place in the 8-team field.
Ice hockey tournaments have been staged at the Olympic Games since 1920. The men's tournament was introduced at the 1920 Summer Olympics and was transferred permanently to the Winter Olympic Games program in 1924, in France. The women's tournament was first held at the 1998 Winter Olympics.

They are also the only team ever to win the Olympics without conceding a single goal, having done so in 1928 and 1956.

Hans-Ulrich Schmied is a retired German rower who specialized in the double sculls. In this event he won bronze medals at the 1972 and 1976 Olympic Games and finished in fifth place in 1968. He also won one world (1974) and two European titles. Schmied went to the 1978 World Rowing Championships on Lake Karapiro in New Zealand as a reserve but did not compete. It was at those championships that he got closer to one of the female rowers whom she later married; Bärbel Bendiks was also present as a reserve.
Kieran Govers is an Australian field hockey player. He plays field hockey professionally in Germany. He plays for the NSW Waratahs in the Australian Hockey League. He first represented Australia in 2010. He won a gold medal at the 2010 Men's Hockey World Cup, at the 2010 Men's Hockey Champions Trophy and the 2014 Commonwealth Games. He won a bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

She played in the Dutch League for Oranje Zwart in Eindhoven as an attacker and was a captain of the Belgium women's national field hockey team until 2014. John Jackson is an Ireland men's field hockey international. He was a member of the Ireland team that won the bronze medal at the 2015 Men's EuroHockey Nations Championship. He also represented Ireland at the 2016 Summer Olympics. At club level, he has played for both Loughborough Students and Reading in the Euro Hockey League. He also won the EHA Cup with Reading in 2014–15.
