Uniontown Mall is a regional enclosed shopping mall in South Union Township, Pennsylvania, just outside the city of Uniontown. The anchor stores are JCPenney, and Crossfit Uniontown. There are four vacant anchor stores that were once The Bon-Ton, Sears and Burlington Coat Factory, as well as AMC Theatres, which departed abruptly in mid 2021.
The one-story Uniontown Mall was developed by Crown American and opened in 1972. Sears and Gee Bee were the mall's original anchor stores. [2] A Bon-Ton store opened at the mall in 1975, and JCPenney and Hess's followed later. In 1992, the Gee Bee store became Value City. A five-bay food court was located between Bon-Ton and Value City, although it would be shuttered by the early 1990s and repurposed into mall space.
In 1999, the Hess's store closed and was eventually divided between a Timeless Traditions furniture store and a branch of TeleTech (TTEC), which specializes in providing customer service and telemarketing for various businesses. In 2003, the property was acquired by PREIT as part of its acquisition of the malls owned by Crown American. In 2007, Value City closed but later became Burlington Coat Factory.[ citation needed ]
By 2008, it had four anchor tenants – Burlington Coat Factory, JCPenney, Sears, and the Bon-Ton – but in a few years, the mall would see multiple closures.[ citation needed ]
In January 2015, PREIT announced plans to sell the Uniontown Mall, along with four other malls. The mall's sale to Mason Asset Management and Namdar Realty Group was completed in August 2015. [3]
In March 2017, Sears closed followed by The Bon-Ton closing in August 2018. In January 2019, Burlington announced to not renew their lease. Two other major tenants, Dunham's Sports and Timeless Traditions Furniture, closed in January 2019. Timeless Traditions Furniture moved to a nearby building that was formerly a Super Kmart.[ citation needed ] In mid 2021, AMC Theatres abruptly closed and currently remains vacant as of August 2021.[ citation needed ]
University Mall, previously University Square Mall, is a shopping mall located near the University of South Florida, just north of the city limits of Tampa on Fowler Avenue. The property is located just east of I-275. The Mall has decreased in popularity over the years as online shopping and gentrification of the surrounding area has started to take effect.
District 208, formerly Karcher Mall, is a shopping center located in Nampa, Idaho, United States. It originally opened as an enclosed shopping mall in August 1965 with Buttrey Food & Drug, Tempo, and Sprouse-Reitz as anchor stores. It was the largest shopping mall in the Treasure Valley until the opening of Boise Towne Square in Boise in October 1988. The Crossroads is a shopping mall located in Portage, Michigan. The mall features 100 stores and a food court. The anchor stores are JCPenney and Macy's. The Crossroads Mall had been owned by Brookfield Properties from 1999 until its sale to Kohan Retail Investment Group in January 2022. Valley View Mall is an enclosed shopping mall in La Crosse, Wisconsin in the United States. Valley View Mall comprises 73 stores, restaurants, and a food court. The anchor stores are Barnes & Noble, JCPenney, Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and Hy-Vee. There is one vacant anchor store; Herberger's. The Mall at Whitney Field is a shopping mall located off of Route 2 near the junction with Interstate 190 in Leominster, Massachusetts. The mall opened in 1967 and was renovated and renamed in 2004. The mall's anchor stores are Burlington, Gardner Outlet Furniture, and JCPenney, with one vacant anchor last occupied by Sears. The mall was previously owned by Walton Street Capital LLC of Chicago until May 2013 when Vintage Real Estate acquired the mall with plans to renovate and turnaround the struggling mall. Located at exit 20 off Interstate 81, the mall had a capacity of at least 64. It is currently owned and managed by Namdar Realty Group. The mall's anchor stores and last remaining store, inaccessible from the mall interior, was Black Rose Antiques & Collectibles. There are 3 other vacant anchor stores that were once JCPenney, Burlington, and The Bon-Ton.
