Monongalia County, known locally as Mon County, is a county in the U.S. state of West Virginia. As of the 2010 census, the population was 96,189, making it West Virginia's third-most populous county. Its county seat is at Morgantown. The county was founded in 1776.
Westover is a city in Monongalia County, West Virginia, United States. The population was 3,983 at the 2010 census. It is included in the Morgantown, WV Metropolitan Statistical Area.
West Virginia Route 100 is a north–south state highway located entirely within Monongalia County, West Virginia. The southern terminus of the route is at U.S. Route 19 in Westover, located on the opposite (west) bank of the Monongahela River of Morgantown. The northern terminus is at US 19 five miles (8 km) northwest of Maidsville.
Marriotts Ridge High School is a public secondary school located in Marriottsville, Maryland. It is part of the Howard County Public School System. The school was named after the town of Marriottsville, and the height of its location. The pre-opening name of Marriott's Ridge was later changed to Marriotts Ridge. Highland School is an independent school located in Warrenton, Virginia. Highland was founded in 1928 by Dorothy Rust and Lavinia Hamilton as the Warrenton Branch of the Calvert School of Baltimore. It was renamed Highland School in 1957 and moved to its current location. East Fairmont High School is a public high school serving the eastern half of the town of Fairmont in Marion County, West Virginia. The dividing line between the east and west sides of Fairmont is the Monongahela River. The school was founded in 1917 by folks on the East Side of Fairmont and held in the auditorium of Central School. In 1921, a new building was constructed on Morgantown Avenue and was used until 1993, when a new, more modern East Fairmont High School was constructed near the Kingmont Rd. exit on I-79.
The Downtown Morgantown Historic District is a federally designated historic district in Morgantown, Monongalia County, West Virginia. The district, encompassing approximately 75 acres, has 122 contributing buildings and 2 contributing sites including commercial and public buildings, residences, and churches. The district has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since May 2, 1996. Ten of the contributing buildings are listed separately on the National Register of Historic Places. Significant structures located within the historic district are the Monongalia County Courthouse, the Metropolitan Theater, and the Old Morgantown Post Office.
Milan Puskar Health Right is a free clinic that provides health and dental care to the uninsured and underinsured at no cost in the city of Morgantown, and Marion, Monongalia, Taylor and Preston counties in West Virginia. Founded in 1984, it accommodates nearly 4,000 patients and 22,000 patient visits annually.
