The Ohio Valley Athletic Conference is a high school sports league in parts of southeastern Ohio and northern West Virginia. The OVAC is the largest conference of its kind in the United States. [1] Schools in the upper Ohio Valley supply over 18,000 athletes in various competitive athletic areas. The conference was organized in 1943. [2]

Classification

Schools are categorized by enrollment of eligible athletes, where Class A is the smallest enrollment and Class AAAAA is the largest enrollment. [3] As of the 2020-2021 school year, there are 18,332 eligible athletes in grades 9 through 11. [4]

Ohio High School Athletic Association

The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) is the governing body of athletic programs for junior and senior high schools in the state of Ohio. The OHSAA governs eligibility of student athletes, resolves disputes, organizes levels of competition by divisional separation of schools according to attendance population, and conducts state championship competitions in all the OHSAA-sanctioned sports.

North Central Conference (OHSAA)

The North Central Conference was an OHSAA athletic league whose final remaining members were located in northwest and north-central Ohio. The league's last day of operation was June 30, 2014.

Bellaire High School is a public high school located in Bellaire, Ohio, United States. It is the only high school in the Bellaire Local School District. Athletic teams compete as the Bellaire Big Reds in the Ohio High School Athletic Association as a member of the Buckeye 8 Athletic League as well as the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference.

East Clinton High School Secondary school in Sabina, , Ohio, United States

East Clinton Local High School is a public high school in Sabina, Ohio in the United States. It is the only high school in the East Clinton Local School District. The district was formed in 1966 from two districts of New Kenton Local Schools and Sabina Local Schools. East Clinton Local Schools cover the eastern portion of Clinton County. It serves the students in the townships of Richland, Wayne, Wilson, and Green, as well as the villages of Sabina, Reesville, Lees Creek and New Vienna. The first graduating class was in 1966. Today there are about 1,600 students district wide, averaging approximately 450 at East Clinton High School.

Clinton-Massie High School School in Clarksville, Clinton County, Ohio, United States

Clinton-Massie High School is a public high school near Clarksville, Ohio in the United States, the only high school in the Clinton-Massie local school district. It was named for the county and township it was first located in when it originated as a consolidated school and assumed responsibility for the enrollment of four former schools: Adams Township, North Kingman, Clarksville and Harveysburg. As of 2016 the school's enrollment by gender was 299 boys and 268 girls. It holds a rating of excellent with distinction. The school's superintendent is Matt Baker.

St. John Central Academy is a private christian school in Bellaire, Ohio. Their nickname is the Fighting Irish, and their athletic teams compete as members of the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference.

Batavia High School (Ohio) Public, coeducational high school in Batavia, Ohio, , Ohio, United States

Batavia High School is a public high school located in Batavia, Ohio. It is the only high school in the Batavia Local School District. It has about 625 students, and recently started open enrollment. The school mascot is the Bulldog. The school is located 20 miles east of Cincinnati within the village of Batavia, which is a village of about 1,700 people and is the county seat of Clermont County. The school district encompasses the village and surrounding areas serving a total population of approximately 14,300. Batavia High School is a participant with the Southern Buckeye Conference, or SBAAC, and the rival of the Batavia Bulldog sports teams are the Williamsburg Wildcats.

East Liverpool Junior/Senior High School is a public high school in East Liverpool, Ohio, United States. It is the only secondary school in the East Liverpool City School District. Athletic teams compete as the East Liverpool Potters in the Ohio High School Athletic Association as a member of the Buckeye 8 Athletic League as well as the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference.

Beaver Local High School is a public high school in St. Clair Township, Ohio, United States, near East Liverpool. It is the only secondary school in the Beaver Local School District. Athletic teams compete as the Beaver Local Beavers in the Ohio High School Athletic Association as a member of the Buckeye 8 Athletic League as well as the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference.

Buckeye Valley High School is a rural public high school located in Delaware County's Troy Township, north of Delaware, Ohio. It is the only high school in the Buckeye Valley Local School District. The mascot is the Fighting Baron. BVHS was part of the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference, but will be joining the Mid-State League in 2019.

East Central Ohio League

The East Central Ohio League (ECOL) is an athletic conference of high schools in Ohio sponsored by OHSAA. Its current member schools are located in Tuscarawas and Washington Counties. Former members are located in Guernsey, Coshocton, Muskingum, and Belmont Counties.

The Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference is an OHSAA athletic league whose members are located in the Ohio counties of Crawford, Marion, and Richland. The league was established in the fall of 1990.

Allan J. Hornyak is an American former basketball player known for his high school and collegiate careers. Despite being selected in the 1973 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers and also in the 1973 ABA Draft by the Indiana Pacers, Hornyak never played professional basketball.

The Inter-Valley Conference is an Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) athletic league made up of 14 schools from Carroll, Coshocton, Holmes, Stark, Guernsey and Tuscarawas counties.
