University Medical Center station, often referred to as simply Medical Center station, [3] is a light rail station on the campus of the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah, in the United States, served by the Red Line of the Utah Transit Authority's (UTA) TRAX light rail system. The Red Line provides service from this station (near the University of Utah Medical Center) to the Daybreak community of South Jordan.

Description

The station is located on the campus of the University of Utah at 10 North Mario Capecchi Drive (formerly called Medical Drive), that portion of Medical Drive, as well as the nearby Wasatch Drive, was renamed and re-signed as Mario Capecchi Drive in February 2008. [4] with both side platforms situated on the west side of the street. The station provides service for the nearby medical facilities, including the University of Utah Hospital, Primary Children's Medical Center, the Huntsman Cancer Institute, and the Moran Eye Center. Unlike many TRAX stations, University Medical Center does not have a Park and Ride lot, however, UTA indicates that there is "limited parking" available. [5] The station is part of a railway right of way that was created specifically for the former University Line. The station opened on 29 September 2003 [2] and is operated by the Utah Transit Authority.

The Red Line is a light rail line on the TRAX system in the Salt Lake Valley of Utah operated by the Utah Transit Authority (UTA). It originally began operation in December 2001 as the peak-hour-only Sandy/University Line, running from the University of Utah south to Sandy Civic Center on the Blue Line. It was later rerouted to South Jordan and renamed the Red Line in August 2011, running as an all-day route. The current line runs from the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City through the south end of Downtown Salt Lake City, South Salt Lake, Murray, Midvale, West Jordan, and South Jordan to the University of Utah's South Jordan Medical Center in Daybreak.

Ogden Express (OGX), is an under construction 5.3-mile (8.5 km) bus rapid transit (BRT) line in southern Ogden, Utah, United States. The line will be operated by the Utah Transit Authority (UTA) and will run between the Ogden Intermodal Transit Center to the McKay-Dee Hospital, by way of Weber State University (WSU). It is anticipated to be completed by 2023. It is the third of several BRT lines that UTA has along the Wasatch Front.
