The University of Wisconsin–Fond du Lac, part of the University of Wisconsin Colleges, is a two-year campus of the University of Wisconsin System located in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, USA.

The University of Wisconsin Colleges was a unit of the University of Wisconsin System composed of 13 local two-year campuses and one online campus, University of Wisconsin Colleges Online. These campuses offered a liberal arts, transfer-parallel curriculum. The Colleges as a functional unit was dissolved as of June 30, 2018. The physical campuses are now affiliated with some of the four-year campuses of the University of Wisconsin System.

The University of Wisconsin System is a university system of public universities in the state of Wisconsin. It is one of the largest public higher-education systems in the country, enrolling more than 174,000 students each year and employing approximately 39,000 faculty and staff statewide. The University of Wisconsin System is composed of two doctoral research universities, eleven comprehensive universities, and thirteen freshman-sophomore branch campuses.

Fond du Lac is a city in Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 43,021 at the 2010 census. The city forms the core of the United States Census Bureau's Fond du Lac Metropolitan Statistical Area, which includes all of Fond du Lac County. Fond du Lac is the 342nd largest Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) in the United States. The Fond du Lac MSA and the Beaver Dam (city), Wisconsin Micropolitan Statistical Area, form the larger Fond du Lac-Beaver Dam Combined Statistical Area.

UW–Fond du Lac is one of 13 freshman-sophomore liberal arts transfer campuses of the UW Colleges and offers a general education associate degree. After beginning their studies at UW–Fond du Lac, students transfer to other UW System institutions as well as to colleges and universities throughout the country to complete their bachelor's degrees. The college offers seven bachelor's degree programs from five 4-year state colleges which can be completed on campus.

The campus features a 2-acre (0.81 ha) lake surrounded by six buildings. A 60-acre (24 ha) Gottfried Arboretum is under development and will serve as an outdoor classroom and provide recreational opportunities.

History

The beginnings of the campus are rooted in the 1950s when the University of Wisconsin–Madison operated an extension campus in Fond du Lac. By the beginning of the 1960s however, that venture had ended, and local community organizers were hoping to bring a fully operating campus to the community. Setting up a joint commission between the city and county, they successfully lobbied for the building of a campus and set aside land in 1966, the previous home of the county airport on the city of Fond du Lac's east side.

The campus opened as a satellite campus of UW–Oshkosh on September 9, 1968, and became an independent two-year campus in 1972.
