Utakata [1] is the 2nd mini album by Chara (or 15th studio album), which was released on November 2, 2011. [2] Utakata was released as a regular CD Only version (DDCZ-1781).

Contents

This album was Chara's third studio album that wasn't preceded by any singles or promotional tracks, the first being her 2005 effort "something blue" and the second her 2011 "Dark Candy". The style of "Utakata" consists mainly of mellow ballads with influences from trip hop, rock and ambient.

Chara (singer) Japanese singer-songwriter and actress

Miwa Watabiki, better known by her stage name Chara, is a Japanese singer, actress and video jockey. She debuted in 1991 with the single Heaven. She is known for her song "Swallowtail Butterfly ", the theme song for the 1996 Shunji Iwai film Swallowtail Butterfly in which she starred, her 1997 hit single "Yasashii Kimochi", and her collaboration with Judy and Mary vocalist Yuki, "Ai no Hi Mittsu Orange". Chara later formed a band with Yuki, called Mean Machine.

Utakata (song) 1980 single by Pink Lady

"Utakata" is Pink Lady's 19th single release, and was released on May 21, 1980. This song was a Japanese version of "Strangers When We Kiss", a song which they recorded for their American debut album Kiss in the Dark.

The discography of Japanese musician Chara consists of fifteen studio albums, four compilation albums, two live albums, three extended plays one soundtrack, eight video albums and fifty singles. Chara debuted as a musician in 1991 with Sony Music Entertainment Japan, and saw great success with the singles "Swallowtail Butterfly " (1996), the theme song for the film Swallowtail, and "Yasashii Kimochi" (1997). After releasing ten albums with the label, Chara left Sony in 2004 to become an independent musician, releasing the album Something Blue (2005). The next year, Chara signed her second major label contract with Universal Music Japan, releasing four albums between 2007 and 2011.
