Johanna Sofia Elisabeth Persson is a former Swedish badminton player. Persson started her junior career in Täby Badmintonförening, and won her first national junior title in 1993 in the U-14 girls' singles, doubles, and mixed doubles event. She won the Swedish National senior title 11 times from 2002 to 2012, 6 in the women's doubles, and 5 in the mixed doubles. She won the bronze medals at the 2004 European Championships in the mixed doubles event partnered with Fredrik Bergström, and also at the 2006 and 2008 European Championship in the women's doubles event with Elin Bergblom. Persson competed in badminton at the 2004 Summer Olympics in the mixed doubles with partner Bergström. They defeated Mike Beres and Jody Patrick of Canada in the first round and Sudket Prapakamol and Saralee Thungthongkam of Thailand in the second. In the quarterfinals, Persson and Bergström lost to Zhang Jun and Gao Ling of China 15–3, 15–1. After retiring from the international tournament, in 2009, Persson runs a project Girls of Badminton, to encourage and promote females within the Swedish Badminton Association. In 2011, she was awarded as a Person of the Year by the Badminton Europe. Her sister, Sara Persson, also an Olympian who competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China.
Ute Geweniger is a former breaststroke and medley swimmer who was a leading member of the East German swimming team in the 1980s. She won two Olympic gold medals, in the 100 m breaststroke and 4×100 m medley relay at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, and set seven individual and two relay world records. She was named by Swimming World Magazine as World Swimmer of the Year in 1983 and as the European Swimmer of the Year in 1981 and 1983.

Ute Enzenauer is a former West German road racing cyclist active from 1981 to 1987. Born in Ludwigshafen-Friesenheim, Rheinland-Pfalz, Enzenauer was selected from school at age 9 as a cyclist. She won the West German National Championships in 1979 and 1980. In 1981 she became the youngest World Champion ever, winning Women's World Road Championships at age 16. She raced the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, California finishing 8th. After finishing 3rd place overall in 1987 Women's Tour de France, she retired from the sport.

Ute Kircheis-Wessel is a retired German fencer. She won a gold medal in the women's team foil at the 1984 Summer Olympics. At the 1976 Summer Olympics she finished in 32nd and fourth place in the individual and team foil events, respectively. She won four medals at world championships in the team foil between 1977 and 1983. Her brother-in-law Friedrich Wessel is also an Olympic foil fencer.
Ute Starke is a German former gymnast. She competed at the 1960, 1964 and 1968 Summer Olympics in all artistic gymnastics events and finished in sixth, fourth and third place with the German and later East German teams. Individually her best achievement was sixth place on the vault in 1964. She won a gold and a silver medal in this event at the European championships of 1961 and 1965.
Ute Noack is a retired German butterfly swimmer who won a gold medal in the 4 × 100 m medley relay at the 1962 European Aquatics Championships, setting a new world record. For this achievement, the relay team members were named German Sportspersonalities of the Year in the team category in 1962. Noack also won the silver medal in the 100 m butterfly at the same championships. She competed at the 1964 Summer Olympics in the 100 m butterfly, but was eliminated in the preliminaries.
Ute Scheiffele, née Gähler, is a German luger who competed in the 1960s for East and West Germany. She was born in Oybin, Sachsen, which in 1949 became part of East Germany. She never won any medals on World, European or Olympic games with the best result fourth in the 1963 World Championship in Imst, Austria. In 1964 she fled to Bavaria and started for West Germany at the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble.

The 1980–81 Utah Utes men's basketball team represented the University of Utah in the 1980-81 season. Head coach Jerry Pimm, and Senior stars Tom Chambers and Danny Vranes would lead the Utes to a Western Athletic Conference championship and the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA tournament. In the best season the Utes would have under Pimm, the team finished with an overall record of 25–5. Vranes and Chambers were both selected in the top 8 picks of the NBA Draft. Chambers, drafted by the San Diego Clippers, would go on to play for several NBA teams in his career, most notably the Phoenix Suns, with whom he would make an appearance in the 1993 NBA Finals; and the Utah Jazz.
