Utility box art is a form of street art whereby utility boxes on city streets are painted or otherwise covered in artwork.

The Great Wall of Los Angeles is a 1978 mural designed by Judith Baca and executed with the help of over 400 community youth and artists coordinated by the Social and Public Art Resource Center (SPARC). The mural, on the concrete sides of the Tujunga Wash in the San Fernando Valley was Baca's first mural and SPARC's first public art project. Under the official title of The History of California, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017.

The Social and Public Art Resource Center is a non-profit community arts center based in Venice, California. SPARC hosts exhibitions, sponsors workshops and murals, and lobbies for the preservation of Los Angeles area murals and other works of public art. SPARC hosts several community programs and artist spaces, including the UCLA@SPARC Digital Mural Lab, a "comprehensive" archive, printmaking studios, an art gallery and a University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) graduate program. Moncho 1929 is a Los Angeles–based street and contemporary artist originally from New York City known for his colorful murals and sociopolitical content. In 2016, he created banners that West Hollywood City Hall displayed on their building and in 2017, he was commissioned by Universal Pictures to paint three murals promoting the film Atomic Blonde starring Charlize Theron.

Ruben Rojas is a Santa Monica-based contemporary artist and designer known for his "Live Through Love" campaign and for co-founding the nonprofit company, Beautify Earth. In 2017, Rojas was included in CBS Los Angeles' list of "Best Los Angeles Artists You Need To Know About," and later that year, the artist gave a TEDx talk about the regenerative power of outdoor art.
