Uxbridge Cottage Hospital is a cottage hospital in Uxbridge, Ontario.
Opened in 1958 after a decade of planning, [1] Uxbridge Hospital has undergone renovations with additions in 1967 and 1996 to 1998 (covered area at the main entrance and interior renovations). [2]
The hospital has a helipad located west of the main wing for transfers out of Uxbridge and a walkway connecting to Testa Professional Building at 2 Campbell Drive. [3]
The Recognition Tower, a 12m tall steel bell tower located outside the hospital, was unveiled in 1990. [4]
In April 1997, under the Common Sense Revolution, the hospital was amalgamated with Community Memorial Hospital Port Perry to form North Durham Health Services (NDHS). NDHS ceased to exist in 1998. Uxbridge Cottage Hospital was affiliated with Lakeridge Health Centre in Oshawa, and was known as Lakeridge Health, Uxbridge, from 1998 until Jan 5, 2004, when the hospital was placed under the jurisdiction of the Markham-Stouffville Hospital Corporation.
Though the hospital originally had 49 beds, the number has been reduced to 20. Uxbridge Cottage also provides a 24-hour emergency department, primary care and some secondary care services to the township of Uxbridge.

Stouffville is the primary urban area within the town of Whitchurch-Stouffville in York Region, Ontario, Canada. Between 2006 and 2011, the population of the Community of Stouffville grew 100.5% from 12,411 to 24,886, or from 51% to 66% of the total population of the larger town of Whitchurch-Stouffville. Markham Stouffville Hospital is an acute care community hospital with two sites: the Markham site, with diagnostic and emergency services, and clinical programs in childbirth, children's health, surgery, medicine, cancer care and mental health; and the Uxbridge site, a 20-bed hospital offering some inpatient and emergency services. The Traverse City State Hospital, also known at various points as the Northern Michigan Asylum and the Traverse City Regional Psychiatric Hospital, is a decommissioned psychiatric hospital in Traverse City, Michigan. Established in 1881 by James Decker Munson and Perry Hannah, the hospital was in operation from 1885 to 1989. The site has since been redeveloped, reopening in 2002 as The Village at Grand Traverse Commons, a social center including shops, restaurants, office space, and residences.

King's Highway 47, commonly referred to as Highway 47 and locally as Stouffville Road, Toronto Street and Brock Street, was a provincially maintained highway in the Canadian province of Ontario. The mostly rural route travelled through the towns of Whitchurch-Stouffville, Goodwood, and Uxbridge on its east–west path between Highway 48 and Highway 12. The route was established in 1937, existing until it was transferred to the Regional Municipality of Durham and the Regional Municipality of York at the beginning of 1998.
The Toronto and Nipissing Railway (T&N) was the first public narrow-gauge railway in North America. It chartered in 1868 to build from Toronto to Lake Nipissing in Ontario, Canada, via York, Ontario, and Victoria counties. At Nipissing it would meet the transcontinental lines of the Canadian Pacific, providing a valuable link to Toronto. It opened in 1871, with service between Scarborough and Uxbridge. By December 1872 it was extended to Coboconk, but financial difficulties led to plans of the line being built further abandoned at this point. The railway merged with the Midland Railway of Canada in 1882.
