V Bird (legally V Bird Airlines Netherlands BV) was a low-cost airline based in the Netherlands which operated services to northern and southern Europe. [1] Its head office was on the grounds of Maastricht Aachen Airport in Beek, Netherlands. [2] [3]

History

The airline was established in 2003 and started operations on 27 October 2003. The airline suspended operations on 8 October 2004 and subsequently filed for bankruptcy on 18 October 2004. V Bird received an offer from an unnamed potential backer three days later with a view to restarting operations, but the airline was liquidated in early January 2005.[ citation needed ]

Germania Fluggesellschaft mbH, trading as Germania, was a privately owned German airline with its headquarters in Berlin. It began by focusing on charter operations, then moved towards becoming a scheduled carrier, although some charter flights were still flown under the brand. The change in strategy led to growth over its last few years, and Germania operated to destinations in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East from several German bases. Magic Blue Airlines was a charter passenger airline based in Rotterdam, Netherlands. It was previously an all-freight operator and intended to operate charter services from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport to Mediterranean holiday destinations starting later in 2005 using BAe ATP aircraft.
