Vaila Marie Barsley (born 15 September 1987) is a Scottish football defender.
Barsley played college soccer for St. John's Red Storm while attending St. John's University on a five-year accountancy degree. After graduating she began working for Ernst & Young in New York City, but negotiated a leave of absence when Swedish club Eskilstuna United offered her a professional soccer contract in 2013. [1] Barsley's nine goals from defence helped Eskilstuna win promotion to the Damallsvenskan in her first season. [2] In the 2015 Damallsvenskan season, Eskilstuna finished runners-up to FC Rosengård and Barsley was awarded a new two-year contract. [3]
In March 2022 she transferred to Damallsvenskan newcomers IF Brommapojkarna, following nine seasons with Eskilstuna. [4]
Barsley's mother is from Shetland, which qualifies her to play for Scotland. [5] She made her full international debut on 11 April 2017, in a 5–0 defeat against Belgium. [6]
In December 2018 she married her former Eskilstuna team-mate Annica Svensson. [7]
Rut Hedvig Lindahl is a retired Swedish professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. She played club football in Sweden for Damallsvenskan clubs including Malmö FF, Linköpings FC, Kristianstads DFF, Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC, Djurgården, and Eskilstuna United, as well as Chelsea in the English FA WSL. At international, Lindahl has accrued 189 caps for Sweden. On 3 August 2014, Lindahl played her 100th cap for Sweden against England. On 17 September 2015, Lindahl played her 113th cap and thereby broke Elisabeth Leidinge's record to become the most capped Swedish female goalkeeper.
Ifeoma Nnenna Dieke is an American-born Scottish international footballer who played as a defender for several professional clubs in Sweden, the United States, and Cyprus. Between 2004 and 2017, she won 123 caps for the Scotland women's national football team. Dieke was born in Amherst, Massachusetts, to Nigerian parents, moving to Cumbernauld in Scotland when she was three years old. Dieke was the first black woman to captain for Scotland, and Dieke and fellow Scot Kim Little were the only non-English players selected in the Great Britain squad for the 2012 London Olympics.
