Vanessa Getty (born 1972) is an American socialite and philanthropist. [1] [2] [3]

Life and career

Getty was born in San Francisco to Claude Jarman Jr., an actor, and Maryann Opperman, a ballerina. [4] [5] She is a graduate of University of California, Los Angeles. [6]

In 1999, she married Billy Getty, a son of Gordon Getty and Ann Getty, in the Napa Valley. [7] [8] [9] The couple have three children and are based in San Francisco. [6] [10]

In 2015, she was named as an honorary co-chair of the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco. [11] [12] [13]

As a philanthropist, she has contributed in development of the Peninsula Humane Society. Getty is also the founder of San Francisco Bay Humane Friends. [6] [14]

She supported and donated to the campaign of U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, who is also the godmother to her children. [15] [16]

Ann Getty was an American philanthropist, publisher, paleoanthropologist and socialite. As a fellow of the Leakey Foundation, she worked on archeological digs in Turkey and Ethiopia and was part of a team that excavated Ardipithecus fossils. She provided funding for the National Museum of Ethiopia and redesigned the museum's garden. Getty served as president of Grove Press, a publishing house that she and Lord Weidenfeld purchased in 1985, and founded the interior design firm Ann Getty and Associates in 1995.

Samuel Newsom was a Canadian-born American architect. Together with his brother Joseph Cather Newsom founded the architecture firm Newsom and Newsom, practicing in Northern and Southern California. Their most celebrated house is the Carson Mansion in Eureka, California.
