A glass cockpit is an aircraft cockpit that features an array of electronic (digital) flight instrument displays, typically large LCD screens, rather than traditional analog dials and gauges. While a traditional cockpit relies on numerous mechanical gauges to display information, a glass cockpit uses several multi-function displays and a primary flight display driven by flight management systems, that can be adjusted to show flight information as needed. This simplifies aircraft operation and navigation and allows pilots to focus only on the most pertinent information. They are also popular with airline companies as they usually eliminate the need for a flight engineer, saving costs. In recent years the technology has also become widely available in small aircraft.
Aeroflot Flight 593 was a passenger flight from Sheremetyevo International Airport, Moscow, Russia, to Kai Tak Airport in Hong Kong. On 23 March 1994, the aircraft operating the route, an Airbus A310-304 flown by Aeroflot, crashed into the Kuznetsk Alatau mountain range in Kemerovo Oblast, killing all sixty-three passengers and twelve crew members on board.
Soroti Airport is an airport serving Soroti, a town in the Eastern Region of Uganda, approximately 290 kilometres (180 mi), by road, north-east of Kampala, Uganda's capital and largest city. The main runway and apron are asphalt and can support aircraft up to the size of a Boeing 737, without damage to the surface. The airport is at an altitude of 3,697 feet (1,127 m), above sea level.

Tina Drazu is a Ugandan airline transport pilot, who has served as a First Officer at Uganda National Airlines Company, Uganda's national carrier airline, on the A330-841 aircraft, since February 2021. Before that, since April 2019, she was a first officer on the CRJ 900 aircraft, at the same airline. As of October 2023 she was one of the only two female first officers on the A330-841 at the airline.

Peter Thomas, commonly referred to as Pete Thomas, is a British aviation consultant who served as a pilot instructor and testing pilot at Uganda Airlines on the A330-800 equipment, from January 2021 until November 2024.
Neema Swai is a Tanzanian commercial pilot. She was the first woman in Tanzania to become certified as a Captain of the Boeing 767-300F "freighter" aircraft. She flies for Air Tanzania, the national airline of Tanzania. She is the first woman to make flight captain at that airline.
