Veera is a 2024 Indian Tamil-language television series replacing Vidhya No 1 serial, starring Vaishnavi Arulmozhi, Arun Crizer, Sibbu Suryan and Subiksha Kayarohanam. [2] It currently airs on Zee Tamil on 26 February 2024, and is also available on the digital platform ZEE5. [3] [4] It airs every Monday to Friday at 20:00. [5]
Veera is a young girl who lives with her mother, two sisters and brother. The family revolves around Pandiyan, who, along with his mother, defends Veera's childish antics. Maaran drinks alcohol and spends half his time roaming around town, much to his father's disapproval. His aunt is the only one that offers some support to him, along with his brothers.
When Pandiyan dies in a road collision caused by Maaran, the tale of events that cause both Veera and Maaran to marry, whilst her older sister Kanmani looks for revenge against Maaran form the premise of the story.
Initially, the title of the serial was set to be 'Sivamurugan Textiles'. [7] Due to undisclosed reasons, the first promo was released with a new name 'Veera' on 8 February 2024. [8] [9] Siva Sekar was chosen to direct the show.
Vaishnavi Arulmozhi was cast as Veera, marking her return after Peranbu . [10] [6] Arun Crizer was cast as the male lead role, marking his return after Rajini . Sibbu Suryan was cast as in a cameo role. [10] [11] [12] Subiksha Kayarohanam was cast as Veera's younger sister Kanmani, who plays a negative role.
On 17 May 2024, actor and director Santhana Bharathi was cast as special Appearances. [13]
The first promo was released on 8 February 2024 featuring Vaishnavi Arulmozhi, Crizer, Sibbu Suryan, Subiksha Kayarohanam and Pasanga Sivakumar. [14] The second promo was unveiled on 16 February 2024 and revealing the release date.
The show began airing on Zee Tamil on 26 February 2024 from Monday to Friday, replacing Maari . [8] [15] [16]
The show got a TVR of 3.69 on launching week on 26 February 2024. [17] In July 2024, the series was the third most watched serial in Zee Tamil with 4.11 TVR. [18]
