Andhra Pradesh is a state in the southern coastal region of India. It is the seventh-largest state with an area of 162,970 km2 (62,920 sq mi) and the tenth-most populous state with 49,577,103 inhabitants. It shares borders with Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and the Bay of Bengal. It has the second-longest coastline in India at about 974 km (605 mi). After existence as Andhra State and unified Andhra Pradesh, the state took its present form on 2 June 2014, when the new state of Telangana was formed through bifurcation. Amaravati is the capital of the state, with the largest city being Visakhapatnam. Water sharing disputes and asset division with Telangana are not yet resolved. Telugu, one of the classical languages of India used by the majority of people, is the first official language.
Nara Chandrababu Naidu, also known as Chandrababu Naidu or CBN, is an Indian politician and the current leader of the opposition in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly. He also served as Chief Minister from 1995 to 2004 and as opposition leader from 2004 to 2014 of Andhra Pradesh. He has been the president of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) since 1995.
Pendyala Varavara Rao is an Indian activist, poet, teacher, and writer from Telangana, India. He is an accused in the 2018 Bhima Koregaon violence and has been arrested under the non-bailable Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Rao was arrested on the charge of plotting to assassinate Indian prime minister, possibly based upon planted evidence. In August 2022, he was released on bail by the Supreme Court of India, on medical grounds.
Andhra Jyothi is the third largest circulated Telugu language daily newspaper of India sold mostly in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. It was founded by K. L. N. Prasad, an Industrialist on 1 July 1960. It is also one of the oldest running Telugu language daily newspapers. It was taken over by Vemuri Radha Krishna, also known as R. Srikrishna Committee on Telangana or the Committee for Consultations on the Situation in Andhra Pradesh (CCSAP) is a committee headed by Justice B. N. Srikrishna to look into the demand for separate statehood for Telangana or keep the State united in the present form, Andhra Pradesh. The committee was constituted by the Government of India on 3 February 2010 and submitted its report on 30 December 2010 to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Samaikya Andhra Movement was a movement organized to keep the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh united, and to prevent the division of the state - separating the Telangana districts of the state into a separate Telangana state. The Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act of 2014, commonly known as the Telangana Act, is an Act of Indian Parliament that split the state of Andhra Pradesh into Telangana and the residuary Andhra Pradesh state, as an outcome of the Telangana movement. The Act defined the boundaries of the two states, determined how the assets and liabilities were to be divided, and laid out the status of Hyderabad as the permanent capital of new Telangana state and temporary capital of the Andhra Pradesh state.

Gopi Chand Mannam is an Indian cardiothoracic surgeon and the chief cardiothoracic surgeon at Star Hospitals in Hyderabad, known for the performance of over 3,000 pediatric heart surgeries. After graduating from Guntur Medical College in 1981, he worked in Jamaica for two years at Victoria Jubilee Hospital in Kingston and Savanna-la-Mar Public General Hospital in Westmoreland, before moving to the UK where he secured a fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1986, followed by another fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow in 1987. He worked in the UK for five years, at the end of which he secured the fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of London before returning to India in 1994 to join the Apollo Hospital in Hyderabad as a senior consultant in cardiothoracic surgery.
Pusarla Venkata Ramana is a former professional volleyball player and an employee of Indian Railways in Secunderabad. He was a member of the India men's national volleyball team. In the 1986 Asian Games, he was part of the team that won a bronze medal. He was awarded the Arjuna Award in 2000 for his contribution to Indian volleyball.
Yadlapati Venkata Rao was an Indian politician from the state of Andhra Pradesh. Rao served as the Minister for Agriculture, Law and Planning in the united Andhra Pradesh from 1978 to 1980. He was elected thrice to the Vemuru Assembly constituency of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly as the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), and served as the Member of Parliament (MP) in Rajya Sabha representing Andhra Pradesh between 1998 and 2004.
The 2019–2024 Amaravati protests, simply known as Amaravati protests, are ongoing demonstrations in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh triggered by the idea of changing the one capital of Amaravati already identified and developed partially, to three capitals of Amaravati, Visakhapatnam and Kurnool by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. This led to concerns that the decision would create chaos and insecurity for farmers who gave their fertile agricultural lands to the government in 29 villages of Guntur district. The protests began in Mandadam, Thullur, Uddandarayunipalem on 18 December 2019. In a few days, the protests spread across Andhra Pradesh Capital Region, in Andhra Pradesh. On 17 December 2020, series of events were done to mark the protests' anniversary.
