The Philippines competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, from 13 to 29 August 2004. This was the nation's eighteenth appearance at the Olympics, except the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow because of its partial support to the United States boycott.

In 2022, she was included on a list of the 25 best players to feature in netball leagues in New Zealand since 1998.

Mariam Bah is a two-time Olympic taekwondo competitor and a multiple-time medalist at the African Taekwondo Championships from Côte d'Ivoire. She first competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, where she had an honor of carrying the national flag at the opening ceremony. Bah was eliminated in the first round after being defeated by Korea's Jang Ji-Won, with a score of 2–9. Because her opponent advanced into the final round and won the gold medal, Bah qualified for the repechage bout, where she was lost to Spain's Sonia Reyes in the first round. At her second Olympics in Beijing, Bah competed in the women's lightweight category (57 kg). In the first round, she fought against New Zealand's Robin Cheong, who made her debut at the Olympics. Neither of them had scored until Bah was given a defensive kick from her opponent. In the end, Bah was officially eliminated in the preliminary round of the competition.
Elaine Teo Shueh Fhern is a Malaysian Taekwondo exponent. She is a holder of a 4th dan Taekwondo Black Belt from Korea and 5th dan Malaysia. She has represented Malaysia from 1999-2011 in various international tournaments. Her experience as a professional Taekwondo exponent has placed her on the pedestal of honour nationally and internationally. One of her most memorable experience was being the first Taekwondo exponent in Malaysia to qualify twice for the Olympic Games.
Heidy Marleny Juárez Guzmán is a Guatemalan taekwondo practitioner, who competed in the women's welterweight category. She picked up a total of eight medals in her career, including a silver from the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and a bronze from the 1995 World Taekwondo Championships in Manila, Philippines, and finished fourth in the 67-kg division at the 2004 Summer Olympics, narrowly missing a chance to become Guatemala's first ever Olympic medalist in history.

Areti Athanasopoulou is a Greek taekwondo practitioner, who competed in the women's featherweight category. She claimed a gold medal in the 59-kg class at the 2003 World Taekwondo Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, and represented her nation Greece in two editions of the Olympic Games. Throughout her sporting career, Athanasopoulou trained as a member of taekwondo squad for AS Vyronas Athinaikos in her native Athens, under head coach and master Apostolos Iakovakis.
Maya Arusi is an Israeli taekwondo practitioner, who competed in the women's flyweight category. She claimed two medals in the 51-kg division at the Trelleborg Open, and became the first Israeli athlete in history to compete in taekwondo in the Olympics at the 2004 Summer Olympics. Arusi trained throughout her career for Amos Lod Taekwondo Club, under head coach and master Alexei Orehov.
Margarita Mkrtchyan was a Russian taekwondo practitioner, who competed in the women's featherweight category. She claimed three medals in the women's 55 and 59-kg classes at the European Championships and also finished seventh in the 57-kg division at the 2004 Summer Olympics, representing her nation Russia. Mkrtchyan also trained as a full-fledged member of the taekwondo team for CSKA Moscow under her personal coach and master Boris Zenkin.
Nootcharin Sukkhongdumnoen is a Thai taekwondo practitioner, who competed in the women's featherweight category. She claimed the silver medal in the 51-kg division at the 1998 Asian Games in her native Bangkok, retrieved a bronze at the 2003 World Taekwondo Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, and later attained a fifth-place finish in the 58-kg category at the 2004 Summer Olympics, representing her nation Thailand.
