The Victorian Tigers (formerly known as the Richmond Tigers and the Hawthorn Tigers) were a water polo team competing in the Australian National Water Polo League. Their success came mostly in the early years of the National League, which they dominated, winning the first four championships. They won the competition in 2010 with a victory over the Drummoyne Devils, 10–8.

They played most of their games at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre, with a few games at the Hawthorn Aquatic and Leisure centre. The club left the league at the conclusion of the 2013 season. [1] [2] [3]

The women's team finished 4th in the 2009 Finals series, losing the bronze medal match to the Fremantle Marlins by one goal.

The Melbourne Sports Centre – Parkville, previously known as the State Netball Hockey Centre is a multipurpose sporting facility located in Melbourne, Australia. The Melbourne Sports and Entertainment Centre is a sports administration and training facility located in the Melbourne Sports and Entertainment Precinct in Melbourne, Australia. The facility opened in 1956 as an aquatic centre for the 1956 Olympic Games. In 1983, the Olympic-sized pool was replaced with a parquetry floor and the facility became Melbourne's home of numerous basketball events until 1998, most notably as the home venue for several National Basketball League teams including the North Melbourne Giants and Melbourne Tigers. The venue served as Melbourne's primary indoor concert arena from 1984 to 1988, until completion of the Rod Laver Arena.

He led Melbourne's Victorian Tigers to the Australian National Water Polo League Title in 2010 and 2012 as captain.

Rowena Webster Australian water polo player

Rowena Evelyn Webster, known as Rowie Webster, is an Australian water polo centre back and a two-time Olympian. She is one of three Australian players to play more than 300 international games for Australia. She attended Korowa Anglican Girls' School and Arizona State University and completed a Bachelor of Physical Education in Secondary Teaching. As youngster, she played Australian rules football after being heavily influenced by her older brother, James and was involved with surf lifesaving at a national level. She started playing water polo as a twelve-year-old. She has played for the Richmond Tigers, the Victorian State team, Arizona State University and professional sides in Greece and Russia. She has represented Australia as a member of Australia women's national water polo team on both the junior and senior level. Webster is a London Olympic bronze medalist, Junior World Champion, and has been rated in the top 3 players in the world two years in a row. Rowie Webster is the current Australian Women's Water Polo Captain.

Isobel Bishop Australian water polo player

Isobel Bishop is an Australian water polo player. She has earned water polo scholarships from the South Australia Institute of Sport and the Australian Institute of Sport. She plays for the Adelaide Jets in the National Water Polo League. She is a member of the Australia women's national water polo team and won a gold medal at the 2011 Canada Cup and another gold at the 2011 FINA Junior World Championships. She is trying to solidify a spot on the team in order to represent the country at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Rebecca Marie Rippon is an Australian water polo player. She represented Australia as a member of the Australia women's national water polo team at the 2004 Summer Olympics and the 2008 Summer Olympics, where she won a bronze medal.

Bronwen Knox Australian water polo player

Bronwen Knox is an Australian water polo centre back/centre forward. She attended Hartwick College and Griffith University, earning a Bachelor of Biomedical Science, and works as a laboratory assistant. She started playing water polo when she was fourteen. She played for the National Water Polo League's Queensland Breakers before switching to the Victorian Tigers for the 2012 season. In 2013–14 season she played for the Greek powerhouse Olympiacos in the European competitions, winning the LEN Trophy.

Nicola Maree Zagame nicknamed Ziggy and Nicky, is an Australian water polo centre back/driver. She has represented her country as a member of Australia women's national water polo team on both the junior and senior levels, and was part of the silver winning team at the 2010 FINA Women's Water Polo World Cup. She represented Australia at the 2012 Summer Olympics and the 2016 Summer Olympics, winning a bronze medal at the 2012 Olympics.

Gemma Beadsworth Australian water polo centre forward

Gemma Jane Beadsworth is an Australian water polo centre forward. She has had scholarships for water polo from the Australian Institute of Sport and the Western Australian Institute of Sport. She plays for the Fremantle Marlins in the National Water Polo League. She has represented Australia on a junior and national level. She won bronze medals at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics, and was chosen as a member of the 2012 Summer Olympics Australia women's national water polo training team. She has also won a silver medal at the 2007 World Championship, a gold medal at the 2006 World Cup and a silver medal at the 2010 World Cup.

Sophie Smith is an Australian water polo centre back/drive currently living in Ashgrove. She is involved with fashion design. She has played for the Victorian Tigers and the Queensland Breakers in the National Water Polo League. She has represented Australia in water polo on the junior and senior level, winning a bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics, 2005 FINA Junior World Championships and at the 2010 FINA Women's Water Polo World Cup.

Victoria Jayne Brown is an Australian water polo goalkeeper. Both of her parents represented their countries at the highest level in fencing. As a youngster, they believed Brown would compete in the Olympics in an equestrian event. She is currently a small business owner. She plays water polo for the Victorian Tigers of National Water Polo League. She has represented Australia as a member of the Australia women's national water polo team on both the junior and senior level. She was a member of the Australian side that won a bronze medal at the 2005 FINA World League Super Finals and the 2010 FINA Women's Water Polo World Cup. She was part of the Australian team that won the bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics. She has earned several honours including being named the 2010 Australian Water Polo Female Player of the Year.
