The Brisbane Barracudas is an Australian club water polo team that competes in the National Water Polo League. They have a men's team and a women's team and are based in Brisbane. [1] [2] [3]
Joshua McCloughan is a former A-League footballer who played as a central defender. An FFA A-Licence coach, he has spent time within Ange Postecoglou's Caltex Socceroos coaching setup and as a Joey's assistant. A foundation Brisbane Roar player, Josh returned to the club to coach the Brisbane Roar FC Youth team in the 2015/16 season. Josh has completed a Bachelor of Management, and regularly commentates A-League football for ABC Grandstand.
Darius Boyd is a former Australian professional rugby league footballer who played fullback, wing, centre and five-eighth for the Brisbane Broncos in the NRL and has played for Australia at international level and State of Origin for Queensland. The current semi-professional league was first played for during the 2019 season. It replaced earlier state leagues organised by Netball Queensland as the top level netball competition in Queensland. On a national level, the HART Sapphire Series is effectively a third level league. Reserve teams compete the Ruby Series. Queensland Sapphires are the representative team of the HART Sapphire Series. They originally played as Queensland Fusion. In 2021 they were re-branded Queensland Sapphires after the HART Sapphire Series.
Hulita Veve, previously known as Hulita Haukinima, is an Australian netball player. Haukinima was a member of the Queensland Firebirds team that won the 2016 ANZ Championship. She has also played for Queensland Fusion in the Australian Netball League and for Firebirds in Suncorp Super Netball. In 2014 she was captain of the Queensland under-19 team that won their Australian National Netball Championships tournament. In 2019 she captained the QUT Wildcats team that won the inaugural HART Sapphire Series title.
