In 2017, the Brisbane Broncos launched a bid to enter a team in the inaugural NRL Women's Premiership in 2018. On 27 March 2018, the club won a license to participate in the inaugural NRL Women's season, on the back of a strong bid which included the NRL's desire for a geographical spread. [14] [15] Paul Dyer was named as the coach of the women's side, [16] but stepped down after the inaugural season to concentrate on his role as game development manager. Kelvin Wright was named his replacement in May 2019. [17]
In June 2018, Ali Brigginshaw, Brittany Breayley, Heather Ballinger, Teuila Fotu-Moala and Caitlyn Moran were unveiled as the club's first five signings. [18] Tain Drinkwater was also appointed the CEO of the team. [19]
The club won the inaugural NRL Women's Premiership title by defeating the Sydney Roosters by 34–12 in the 2018 NRL Women's Premiership Grand Final. [3]
Jamie Feeney is an Australian former rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s and 2000s. He played as a second-row and lock for Canterbury Bankstown and the Melbourne Storm in the NRL. He was later the coach of the Sydney Roosters Women and Gold Coast Titans Women in the NRLW.

The duration of the season was confirmed by the NRL in a media release on 14 February 2023 as nine rounds followed by semi-finals and a Grand Final. Contracted players will also be paid for a seven-week preparation period prior to the commencement of the competition, plus two weeks leave, for a total of 20 weeks. The contract period for players is, however, twelve months.

The Titans Women played their first game on 27 February 2022. The team's first win came the following week, in Round 2, 26–16, over the eventual premiers, the Sydney Roosters.
