The Cairns District Rugby League was formed on 5 August 1918 and is the administrative body for the game of rugby league football in Cairns, Queensland. The CDRL runs senior, junior and women's club competitions and has its headquarters at Barlow Park. The competition changed its name to Far North Queensland Rugby League in 2023.
Selected players from the Cairns District Rugby League, represented Cairns in representative sides called Cairns Marlins (senior team), and Cairns Crocs (junior team). The Marlins compete in the Foley Shield while the Northern Pride represents Cairns in the competitions the Queensland Cup, the Cyril Connell Cup and the Mal Meninga Cup .
The Cairns senior competition features eleven clubs in three grades: A-grade, reserves and colts (under 18's). All finals matches are played at Barlow Park.

Eacham Junior Rugby League is the governing body for seven club junior rugby league on the Atherton Tablelands. [2] The home grounds of Eacham Junior Rugby League are the Atherton Junior Rugby League grounds. The name of the Eacham Junior Rugby League comes from a senior competition dating back to the early twentieth which comprised senior clubs from Mareeba, Atherton, Malanda and Millaa Millaa.

The Foley Shield is a rugby league competition in North Queensland administered by the Queensland Rugby League.
The Northern Division of the Queensland Rugby League is responsible for administering the game of rugby league in North Queensland, specifically in the area from Sarina in the south to Cape York and the Torres Strait Islands in the north and west to Mount Isa as well as into the Gulf Communities. There are over 8000 registered players across 36 senior clubs and 39 junior clubs in this division. The Northern Division is responsible for the historic Foley Shield competition that is held each year. Mid West and Mount Isa play in the Toyota Outback Carnival.

Cabramatta Two Blues, colloquially known as Cabra, is an Australian rugby league football club that was originally formed in 1919 and then later completely formed as the Two Blues in 1939. They have always based from the Parramatta Junior Leagues, and their junior teams compete in the Parramatta District Junior Rugby League Association.
