The Queensland Blades are a men's Australian field hockey team, representing Queensland in the Australian Hockey League.
The Blades have been the most successful team to play in recent years. Their home ground is the State Hockey Centre at Colmslie in Brisbane, Queensland.
They have also competed under the name Brisbane Baldes. And between the years 1993–2000, Queensland also provided a second team in the National Competition, the North Queensland Barras.
The team were champions in the 2007 AHL final played in Perth, Western Australia on 1 April 2007, beating the WA Thundersticks.
In 2010 the Queensland Blades defeated the New South Wales Waratahs in the AHL final to win the championship.
They have since also won the 2012, 2013 and 2015 editions. [1]

Daniel Brian Bylsma is an American professional ice hockey coach and former player. He is the head coach of the Coachella Valley Firebirds of the American Hockey League (AHL). He was previously head coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Buffalo Sabres in the National Hockey League (NHL), and was also an assistant coach for the Detroit Red Wings. He also was the former head coach of the United States men's national ice hockey team. Prior to coaching the Sabres, Bylsma was the head coach for the Pittsburgh Penguins, whom he led to a Stanley Cup championship in 2009, just four months after being promoted to Pittsburgh's head coaching position.
Troy Elder OAM is a field hockey striker and midfielder from Australia, who was a member of the Men's National Team that won the golden medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. Four years earlier, when Sydney hosted the Olympic Games, Elder finished in third spot with The Kookaburras, as the national team is called.
Gregory Charles Browning is a retired field hockey player from Australia, who won the silver medal at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Despite its non-professional nature, AHL is considered one of the strongest and most competitive national hockey leagues in the world. The AHL consists of both men's and women's competition. Angela Robyn Lambert was an Australian Women's Field Hockey player. She captained the under 21 Australian women's field hockey squad before entering the Hockeyroos in 1998 and in 2000 won gold at the Sydney Olympics. Angie went on to play in two more Olympic games and played over 225 games for Australia. Apart from playing in the Hockeyroos she played for the AHL Queensland Scorchers.
The OAMPS Queensland Scorchers are an Australian women's field hockey team based in Queensland that play in the Australian Hockey League. In the 2014 season, they were the runners-up to the NSW Arrows. They also won the 2013 Australian Hockey League Premiership, as well as the 2015 AHL Premiership. In 2016 they made it back-to-back premierships, beating Victoria in the final. When they again met Victoria in the 2017 final, the two teams were level at full time. The match then went to shoot outs, with Victoria coming away with the championship.
Jamie Dwyer is an Australian field hockey player. He currently plays for YMCC Coastal City Hockey Club in the Melville Toyota League in Perth, Western Australia. He also played for the Queensland Blades in the Australian Hockey League. He debuted for Australia as a junior player in 1995, and for the senior side in 2001. He has played over 350 matches for Australia and scored over 220 goals. He has represented Australia at the 2004 Summer Olympics where he won a gold medal and the 2008 Summer Olympics and 2012 Summer Olympics where Australia won bronze medals. He has also represented Australia at the 2006 Commonwealth Games where he won a gold medal and the 2010 Commonwealth Games where he also won gold. He has won silver medals at the 2002 Men's Hockey World Cup and the 2006 Men's Hockey World Cup. He won a gold medal at the 2010 Men's Hockey World Cup and the 2014 Men's Hockey World Cup. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest players to ever play the game.
Matthew Gohdes is an Australian field hockey player. He plays for the Queensland Blades in the Australian Hockey League. He made his debut for the Australia men's national field hockey team in 2009 during a five-game test series in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He won a gold medal at the 2010 Men's Hockey Champions Trophy and a bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
Mark William Knowles is the Australian field hockey captain. He has played professional hockey in the Netherlands for HC Rotterdam. He plays for the Queensland Blades in the Australian Hockey League. He has been the captain of the Australia men's national field hockey team the Kookaburras since 2014. He won a gold medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics, the 2014 World Cup, the 2005 and 2012 Champions Trophy.
Matthew David Swann is an Australian field hockey player. He plays for the Queensland Blades in the Australian Hockey League. He is a member of the Australian men's national field hockey team, making his first cap in 2009. He won a gold medal at the 2011 Men's Hockey Champions Trophy and a bronze medal the 2012 Summer Olympics.
Jason Wilson is an Australian field hockey striker from Kingscliff, New South Wales. He made his top-level club hockey debut in 2003. While living in New South Wales, he represented Queensland in national competitions on the junior and senior level. Wilson played more than 150 games for the QLD Men’s Team from 2004-2015 winning 5 national titles throughout his tenure. He was a member of the Australia men's national field hockey team 2009-2015 and earned gold medals at the four Champions Trophy tournaments including 2010 Men's Hockey Champions Trophy which he was named Most Promising Player and lead the goal scoring for the tournament. He was a gold medalist at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, scoring two goals in the gold medal match to help secure the Gold.
Jacob Thomas Whetton is an Australian field hockey player who plays as a forward for the Australian national team.
The Australian Women's Ice Hockey League (AWIHL) is Australia's top-tier women's ice hockey league. Established in 2005 as Australia's first women's national league, the AWIHL has amateur status and is sanctioned by Ice Hockey Australia. The AWIHL is currently contested by five teams from five Australian states, including South Australia, Queensland, New South Wales, Western Australia and Victoria. The league champion is awarded the Joan McKowen Memorial Trophy and the premier is awarded the Stephanie Boxall Trophy. The most successful team in AWIHL history is Melbourne Ice, who have claimed seven championship titles. The current champion, from 2019–20, is the Sydney Sirens, who claimed their second title.
