Victory is the fourth extended play by Dutch electronic music record producer San Holo. Canadian independent electronic label Monstercat released the extended play on 25 May 2015. The extended play gathered generally positive reviews and was later accompanied by a remix extended play, released on 17 November 2015.
On 28 April 2015, Monstercat uploaded a teaser video to their YouTube channel simply titled "Victory", with the description saying "IV-V". [1] Some fans conspired to figure out the teaser on their own, deciphering "IV-V" as the date 4 May, of which is also known as Star Wars Day. Fans further connected the date to the character Han Solo, switching the first letters of the first and last names to arrive at the stage name of Dutch future bass producer Sander van Dijck, San Holo. [2]
On 4 May 2015, Monstercat released the song "Victory" to promote the extended play of the same name, announcing the extended plays release date as 25 May 2015. [3] After release, the song became one of the most played Monstercat songs on SoundCloud, reaching over fifty-thousand plays on the first day. [2]
In an interview with Dancing Astronaut , Van Dijck spoke about the development and visual components created to for the extended play, stating:
"With our creative company Bitbird we worked on a visual concept for this EP, to create visuals that fit perfectly with the music and its intention. It all ties together, the artwork, teasers and the video clips. To us, the concept is crystal clear in our minds, but not verbalized. It’s our expression of how we envisioned this project. For the viewers and listeners, it is open to interpretation."

On 25 May 2015, the extended play was released exclusively as a digital download on international digital stores through Monstercat. [3] "Hold Fast" and "Victory" were both featured on the compilation album Monstercat 022 – Contact. [5] Monstercat later released a remix of "Hold Fast" by American electronic producer Krne on 3 November 2015, distributed for free via Toneden. [6] In an interview with Tabitha Neudorf of UKF Music , Van Dijck stated that he chose to release the extended play on Monstercat because of their fanbase, saying that "All of those people always get so excited about a new release; I’ve never seen that on another label. The fans also have such high expectations and really trust the label to give them quality. It gave me great exposure, and the fans are brutally honest. They’ll always say whether they hate it or they love it." [7]
Victory was well received by most critics. Austin Evenson of Dancing Astronaut praised the extended play, writing calling it Van Dijck's "most insightful form of musical expression yet". [4] Writing for Nest HQ , Nathan Beer described all three of the songs featured on the extended play as the best fits for set-closing tracks, writing that the songs' "high energy, sturdy composition, and new synths and sounds unique to his brand showcase exactly what we expected and more." [8] Your EDM's Peter Rubinstein called the extended play "diverse", saying that the "bold tracks each embody a life and emotion of their own, and combine to form a truly beautiful and spiritual journey." [9] Sam Waggoner of Run The Trap described the songs as melodic, 8-bit and bass heavy, stating that "each track showcases his creativity and fearlessness to experiment with different sounds, which typically result is something super fresh and innovative." [10] Writing for By The Wavs, Nick Grindrod praised the extended play, calling it a "victory for San Holo" and described it as unique in that it "has a mood where you can dance to the music if you want, or sit back and just enjoy it." [11] EDMTunes' Keith Buhler commended the extended play, stating that it is "expertly crafted with lush detuned chords, unique vocal chops, spacious reverberated arps and hip-hop infused beats to create an overall nostalgic yet adventurous tone." Sander van Dijck, better known by his stage name San Holo, is a Dutch DJ, musician, and record producer from Zoetermeer. He gained international recognition for his remix of Dr. Dre's "The Next Episode", which currently has over 262 million views on YouTube. He has released music on several record labels including Spinnin' Records, Owsla, Barong Family, and Monstercat. He also founded Bitbird, a label which has released several of his singles including "Still Looking" and "Light" and his debut album Album1. San Holo's first EP, Cosmos, was released via Heroic on 18 September 2014 and was in the Top 100 Electronic category of iTunes. San Holo's first album, Album1, was released via Bitbird on 21 September 2018 and debuted at #7 on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart.
Jeff Hartford, better known by his stage name Attlas, is a Canadian DJ, electronic music producer and musician. Hartford is known for his progressive house and electronica releases on the electronic label mau5trap and has often appeared the label's We are Friends album series. He has released three albums, five extended plays, and several other singles and has received two Juno Award nominations over the course of his career. He is also half of the group Sun Lo with Richard Walters.
Bitbird is an independent record label and creative company based in The Hague, Netherlands founded by Sander van Dijck in 2014. The label is jointly run by Sander van Dijck's manager Budi Voogt and his longtime friend and associate Thorwald van den Akker, who is also the label's creative director and co-founder.
James Leusink, better known by his alias Ephixa, is a Canadian electronic music producer who lives in Ontario, Canada. He is best known for his viral "Charlie Sheen Bi-Winning" dubstep remix, remixes of music from the Legend of Zelda franchise as well as various other remixes and original electronic music. Leusink peaked at #11 on Billboard's Next Big Sound chart in November 2011. Ephixa is also known for the first ever single released by Canadian record label Monstercat, "Dubstep Killed Rock 'n' Roll".
Conor Patton, better known by his stage name Conro, is a Canadian DJ and record producer, based in Kelowna, British Columbia. He is best known for his song "Therapy" with over 21 million streams on Spotify and as an artist of the Canadian record label Monstercat.
Valentino Khan is an American DJ and producer born and raised in Los Angeles. He is best known for releasing material through Diplo, Skrillex and Steve Aoki. Sajeeb Saha, known professionally as Jai Wolf, is a Bangladeshi-American, New York-based electronic music producer. He is best known for his singles, "Indian Summer", "Like It's Over", and "Starlight". He is currently signed to Mom + Pop Music.
Patrick Cybulski, known by his stage name K?d, is an American electronic musician and DJ. Carl Garsbo, better known by his stage name Kasbo, is an electronic record producer and DJ, originating from Gothenburg, Sweden. Starting his music career in 2013, he released multiple songs independently and through labels such as Monstercat, Foreign Family Collective and bitbird. He also released a couple songs on NoCopyrightSounds, those being "Steps", and "Horizon".
Path.Finder is the fourth extended play by American electronic music producer Notaker. It was released by Canadian record label Monstercat on April 8, 2019. It contains six songs, including features of Singer-songwriter Karra and Eric Lumiere. The two singles "Into the Light" and "Each Other" were each released on January 31, 2019, and on March 18, 2019, respectively.
Kyle Hagberg, better known by his stage name Kompany, is a Los Angeles-based dubstep producer. He is known for his releases on the British record label Never Say Die, including his Revolt, New Reign, and Metropolis extended plays and his various collaborations with other Never Say Die artists.
Adam Puleo, better known by his alias Wooli, is an American Briddim, riddim and dubstep DJ and producer. He is known for the songs "Island" and "Another Me", with the prior being a collaboration with American dubstep producers Seven Lions and Trivecta and the latter being a collaboration with Seven Lions and Canadian producer and DJ Excision. "Island" peaked at the No. 20 position on Billboard's Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart in early 2019. "Another Me" peaked on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs at the No. 46 position in late 2019.
Austin Michael Collins, better known as Au5, is an American electronic musician from New Jersey. Au5's music encompasses a range of electronic genres such as dubstep, house, trance, drum and bass, drumstep and ambient, and he is known for fusing the characteristics of trance and dubstep in his music. Au5 is best known for his releases on Canadian label Monstercat, some of which have received millions of views on YouTube.
Stay Vibrant is an EP by Dutch musician San Holo. The EP was released on his independent record label, Bitbird, in Spring of 2020 with weekly releases. The EP consists of seven singles: “(if only i could) hold you”, “don’t forget to breathe today”, “in the end i just want you to be happy”, “idk anything (demo)”, “in case i never see you again…”, “we’re all just on our way home”, and “staring at the sea without you next to me”. The EP features artists such as Analogue Dear, I Live Here, and Luwten.
"I Still See Your Face" is a single by Dutch music producer San Holo which was released on Bitbird, his own label, on September 12, 2017. Holo wrote and recorded the song in 2016. "I Still See Your Face" was included on the album Gouldian Finch 2, released on October 5, 2017, and its remixes were released on October 31 of that year. Holo has performed live and acoustic versions of the song, which received generally-positive reviews and reached number 29 on the Dutch Single Tip chart.
BB U OK? is the second studio album by Dutch musician San Holo, released on 4 June 2021 by Bitbird, Counter Records, and Liquid State.
