Vietnam competed in the 2021 Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi as host nation from 12 to 23 May 2022. The Vietnamese contingent consists of 965 athletes, competing in all 40 sports. [1]
The host Vietnam emerged in the medal tally as the overall champions after nineteen years recording 205 gold medals (the most by any country thus far) along with 125 silvers and 106 bronzes, accumulating 446 total medals in total. [2]

The Vietnam national football team represents Vietnam in men's international senior football and is controlled by the Vietnam Football Federation, the governing body of football in Vietnam. It has been nicknamed the Golden Star Warriors.
The Mỹ Đình National Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Nam Từ Liêm district, Hanoi, Vietnam. It has a capacity of 40,192 seats and is the centerpiece of Vietnam's National Sports Complex. The men's football tournament at the 2021 SEA Games was held from 6 – 22 May 2022 in Vietnam. Ten Southeast Asian nations participated in the men's tournament. The group stage and semi-finals were played in Việt Trì and Nam Định, while Hanoi hosted the bronze and gold medal matches. Men's teams are restricted to under-23 players with a maximum of three over-aged players allowed.
Việt Trì Stadium is an association football stadium located in Việt Trì city, Phú Thọ province, Vietnam. This stadium with a capacity of nearly 18,000 seats is located in the premises of the Sports Complex of Phú Thọ province. Currently, the stadium is the home ground of Phú Thọ Football Club.
