Vijay C. Kumar is an Indian cinematographer, who works in the Telugu cinema. He won the Nandi Award for Best Cinematographer for the film Godavari (2006). [1] He is the son of cinematographer C. Nageshwara Rao. Vijay Kumar's work is most noted for innovative use of lighting, subject specific visualization, use of natural colors on screen, Tele-focus shots, balancing the depth of focus between the subject and objects and many more techniques. Some of his films in Telugu cinema are Vivaha Bhojanambu , Ammoru , Agraham , Dollar Dreams , Anand and Happy Days .

Background

C. Vijay Kumar's father, C. Nageswara Rao, was a famous cinematographer, who worked for classics like Pandava Vanavasam, Paramanandayya Sishyula Katha, Gudi Gantalu, Aastulu - Anthastulu, and Aradhana . Unfortunately Nageswara Rao expired at the age of 42, when Vijay Kumar was only seven years old. As his mother, C. Sanadhana, [2] wanted him to carry on in his father's footsteps and continue in the same profession, he joined Sarada Enterprises (currently known as Anand Cine Services) outdoor unit at the age of thirteen as an apprentice. [3] His son, Pawan Ch, was a protégé of A. R. Rahman and made his debut as a music director with Love Story (2021).

Career

Vijay Kumar worked under various cinematographers like S. Venkataratnam, V. S. R. Swamy, Ravikant Nagaich, S. S. Lal, and S. Gopal Reddy in Telugu. He worked with Shomandar Roy, Eshaan Arya, Baba Azmi, and Behran Mukherjee in Hindi for eight years and earned a lot of practical knowledge in different kinds of lightning and exposures. In 1984, he joined as an operative cameraman under Lok Singh, for Vijetha (1985). Producer Jaya Krishna gave Vijay Kumar his first break as cinematographer with Vivaha Bhojanambu (1988) film under Jandhyala, which was a blockbuster hit. He later went out to work for Neeku Naaku Pellanta with the same team.

Producer Shyam Prasad Reddy offered him to do unfinished work of Ankusam (1989), even though the official cinematographer was K. S. Hari. He worked for Agraham and Ammoru (1995), which went on to be path-breaking Telugu films, in terms of technical work. Later on, he went on to work many successful films like Bachelors, Sampangi, Sreevarante Mavare and Jai Bhajaranga Bhali.

He met Sekhar Kammula when they worked for Dollar Dreams which was the first film in their collaboration, following which, they worked together for all of his films: Anand (2004), Godavari (2006), Happy Days (2007), Leader (2010), Life is Beautiful (2012), Anaamika (2014), Fidaa (2017), and Love Story (2021). The film was shot simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil, with a few differences in the cast. The story is an adaptation of the folk tale Sasirekha Parinayam, which is based on the characters of the epic Mahabharata. It revolves around the roles of Krishna and Ghatotkacha, as they try to reunite Arjuna's son Abhimanyu with his love, Balarama's daughter (Savitri). The Telugu version features Gummadi, Mukkamala, Ramana Reddy, and Relangi in supporting roles, with D. Balasubramaniam, R. Balasubramaniam, V. M. Ezhumalai, and K. A. Thangavelu playing those parts in the Tamil version.

Jayakrishna was an Indian film producer known for his works in Telugu cinema and few Tamil films. He produced films such as Mana Voori Pandavulu 1978, which won the Filmfare Award for Best Film – Telugu for that year. His other hits include, Manthri Gari Viyyankudu 1983, Vivaha Bhojanambu, Muddula Manavaralu, Seetaramulu, Raagaleela, Neeku Naaku Pellanta, Krishnarjunulu, 420 etc. He produced the Tamil film Aalavandhan.

Kanukuntla Subhash Chandrabose is an Indian lyricist and playback singer who works in Telugu films. Chandrabose debuted as a lyricist with the 1995 film Taj Mahal. Chandrabose won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award for "Naatu Naatu" song from the film RRR (2022). He has received two Nandi Awards, two Filmfare Awards, and three SIIMA Awards as a lyricist.

Jandhyala Subrahmanya Sastry, known mononymously by his surname Jandhyala, was an Indian film director, screenwriter, playwright, and actor known for his works in Telugu cinema and Telugu theatre. Dr.Salur Koteshwara Rao, known professionally as Koti, is an Indian composer, record producer, and singer who predominantly works in Telugu and Hindi films. He has composed music for over 475 films. The son of veteran composer S. Rajeswara Rao, in early 1980s Koti teamed with Somaraju (Raj), son of T. V. Raju, and the resulting duo was known as Raj–Koti. The duo composed music for about 180 films from their debut in 1983 till their separation in 1994. After the separation, Koti has composed music and background score for more than 350 movies. He won the Nandi Award for Best Music Director for the film Hello Brother (1994).

Ammoru (transl. Goddess) is a 1995 Indian Telugu-language Hindu mythological fantasy film directed by Kodi Ramakrishna. The film is produced by Shyam Prasad Reddy, under M. S. Arts Unit. It stars Ramya Krishna in the titular role and Soundarya, Suresh, Rami Reddy, Baby Sunaina, Vadivukkarasi, Kallu Chidambaram, and Babu Mohan in supporting roles. In the film, goddess Ammoru descents to Earth and protects her devotee Bhavani from evil forces.

<i>Mahanati</i> 2018 film directed by Nag Ashwin

Mahanati is a 2018 Indian Telugu-language biographical drama film based on the life of actress Savitri. It is written and directed by Nag Ashwin, and produced by Priyanka Dutt under Vyjayanthi Movies and Swapna Cinema. The film features Keerthy Suresh as Savitri while Dulquer Salmaan plays Savitri's husband Gemini Ganesan. The film also stars Samantha Akkineni and Vijay Deverakonda, along with Rajendra Prasad, Prakash Raj, and Bhanupriya who appear in supporting roles. Naga Chaitanya and Mohan Babu, among others, play guest appearances. The plot follows Savitri's life, depicting her turbulent rise to prominence, marriage with Ganesan, and subsequent fall from grace, which is viewed from the perspective of a journalist and a photographer, played by Samantha and Deverakonda respectively.

Rajitha is an Indian actress who works in Telugu films. She has been active since the late 1980s.
