Ankusam is 1989 Indian Telugu-language action film directed by Kodi Ramakrishna and produced by Shyam Prasad Reddy. The film stars Dr. Rajashekar and his wife Jeevitha, while Rami Reddy and M. S. Reddy play supporting roles. [1] The film became a box-office blockbuster and was a major breakthrough in Rajasekhar's career. [2] Ravi Raja Pinisetty directed the Hindi and Kannada remakes - Pratibandh and Abhimanyu with Chiranjeevi and V. Ravichandran, respectively, in 1990. [3] The film won three Nandi Awards.

Premise

Vijay (Dr. Rajasekhar) is an honest police officer who learns that an assassin named Neelakantam (Rami Reddy) is assigned to kill his former mentor-turned-CM Master Raghuviah (M. S. Reddy) and sets out to thwart Neelakantam's plans.

Legacy

The film became successful at box office and provided a major breakthrough in the career of Rajasekhar. Rajasekhar's portrayal of honest and short-tempered police officer received critical acclaim and he went on to be typecast in similar roles throughout his career. [4] The film was dubbed and released in Tamil as Idhuthaanda Police, which also became a huge hit. [5]

Both director and actor again teamed up for Nayakudu, which failed to repeat the success of Ankusam. [6] Ramireddy also became famous as a villain and did similar characters in other films. [7]

Film maker Srinu Vaitla said that, "Two films – RGV's Shiva and Kodi's Ankusam – deeply influenced me and directly or indirectly prompted me to become a director". [8]

Jai Chiranjeeva is a 2005 Indian Telugu-language action comedy film directed by K. Vijaya Bhaskar and produced by Vyjayanthi Movies. The movie stars Chiranjeevi, Arbaaz Khan, Sameera Reddy and Bhumika Chawla.The film's climax was shot in Los Angeles, California and one of the songs on Las Vegas strip. The film's music was composed by Mani Sharma with editing by Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao. The film released on 22 December 2005. The film was remade into Bengali Bangladesh as Ziddi Mama (2012) starring Shakib Khan, Apu Biswas and Rumana.

In 2012, he received the state Raghupathi Venkaiah Award for his lifetime contribution to Telugu cinema.

Vijay C. Kumar is an Indian cinematographer, who works in the Telugu cinema. He won the Nandi Award for Best Cinematographer for the film Godavari (2006). He is the son of cinematographer C. Nageshwara Rao. Vijay Kumar's work is most noted for innovative use of lighting, subject specific visualization, use of natural colors on screen, Tele-focus shots, balancing the depth of focus between the subject and objects and many more techniques. It stars Ramya Krishna in the title role and Soundarya, Suresh, Rami Reddy, Baby Sunaina, Vadivukkarasi, Kallu Chidambaram, and Babu Mohan in supporting roles. Mallemala Sundara Rami Reddy, popularly known as M. S. Reddy and Mallemala, was an Indian film producer, director, screen writer and lyricist in Telugu cinema and a writer known for his contribution to Telugu Literature. He also served as President of the Telugu Film Producers Council, South Indian Film Writers Association, and Film Nagar Co-operative Housing Society, as well as Chairman of Andhra Pradesh Film Development Corporation. He won two Nandi Awards.

Aagraham is a 1993 Indian Telugu-language action drama film directed by K. S. Ravi, starring Rajasekhar and Amala Akkineni. Thotta Yadhu was the art director. Prabhu Deva and Raju Sundaram were the choreographers. The film was dubbed in Tamil as Evana Irundha Enakenna.

<i>Nayakudu</i> (film) 2005 film

Nayakudu (transl. Leader) is a 2005 Indian Telugu-language action film directed by Kodi Ramakrishna. A remake of the Malayalam film Runway (2004), the film stars Rajasekhar and Namitha while Nassar, Rami Reddy and Riyaz Khan play supporting roles. The plot follows Raju (Rajasekhar) who pretends to his family that he worked in Dubai, however, he is a smuggling kingpin who goes by the name Spirit Sambasiva. The film is released on 15 September 2005.
