Vijayakumari is an Indian stage, television and film actress. She was a stage actress at Kerala People's Arts Club and Kalidasa Kalakendra. [1] She is the winner of the Kerala State award for best stage actress.[ citation needed ] She received the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Award in 1976 and the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Fellowship in 2005. [2] [3] Currently she is the Secretary of Kalidasa Kalakendra.[ citation needed ]

Early and personal life

Vijayakumari was born to Paramu Panicker and Bhargaviyamma at Kollam. Her father was a boat captain and her mother was a cashew nut worker in a cashew factory at Kollam. Her father died when she was very young. She has a younger sister. [4] She had her primary education from Cantonment School, Kollam. [5]

She is married to O. Madhavan. [6] They have three children, Mukesh, Sandhya Rajendran, (both are actors) and Jayasree Syamlal . [7] Sandhya's husband, E. A. Rajendran is also a film actor. [8]

Ningalenne Communistakki is a Malayalam socio-political play by Kerala People's Arts Club (KPAC). This was the second and most popular stage play of KPAC. Nagavally Rama Kurup Sreedhara Kurup, popularly known as Nagavally, was an Indian writer, commentator and broadcaster best known for his works in the All India Radio. Kalidasa Kalakendram is a professional drama theatrical group founded by O. Madhavan, a well-known Malayalam theatre director, in Kollam, Kerala. The group was founded on 25 January 1963 as a society under the parent organisation, Paul Foundation.

T. P. Radhamani was an actress who was active in Malayalam and Tamil movies. She began her career at the age of 14. With about 105 films to her credit, the actress is best known for her role in Utharayanam. Oru Yathramozhi, the 1997 moving starring Mohanlal, was her last Malayalam film. She died on 20 October 2019 due to cancer. Her son is the actor Abhinay.

Kala Vijayan is an Indian classical dance performer, choreographer, author and actor. She is the daughter of the legendary Kathakali artist Kalamandalam Krishnan Nair and Mohiniyattam exponent Kalamandalam Kalyanikutty Amma. Kala Vijayan is trained in Mohiniyattam, Bharatanatyam and Kathakali, however she is best known for her contributions to Mohiniyattam. She is the recipient of Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Award for Mohiniyattam (1998) and the Kerala State Award for Mohiniyattam (2019). She is the Principal Director and senior Guru at Kerala Kalalayam, a fine arts institute established by her parents at Thripunithura in 1952.

C. S. Radhadevi is a playback singer, dubbing artist, radio artist and actor from Kerala, India. Radhadevi has been in the field of Malayalam radio broadcasting for seven decades. She has sung in over thirty films in a span of 30 years. She has received many awards including Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Fellowship, Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Award, Gurupooja Award by Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi, Kerala Film Critics Award and the Kerala State Film Award for her Outstanding Contribution to Malayalam Cinema.

Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Award is an award given by the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi, an autonomous organisation for the encouragement, preservation, and documentation of the performing arts of Kerala, set up by the Department of Cultural Affairs of the Government of Kerala. Instituted in 1962, the awards are given in the categories of music, dance, theatre, other traditional arts, and for contribution/scholarship in performing arts. The award consists of Rs. 30,000, a citation and a plaque. The recipients of the award are also conferred the title Kalasree.

K. P. A. C. Sulochana was a popular Indian Malayalam playback singer, theatre and film actress from Kerala. She has won several awards including the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Award and Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Fellowship. She has also wrote a book called Arangile Anubhavangal.
