Viking FK 2, commonly known as just Viking 2, is the reserve team of Viking FK. They currently play in the Norwegian Third Division. [1]

History

Since year 2000, Viking 2 have played in the Norwegian Second Division and the Norwegian Third Division. Their best position is a 1st place finish in the 2005 Second Division. [2] As reserve teams are not allowed to play in the Norwegian First Division, second placed FK Haugesund were promoted instead. [3] [4]

The 2014 season was FK Haugesund's 5th season back in the Tippeligaen since their promotion in 2009 and their 6th season with Jostein Grindhaug as manager. They finished the season in 11th position, were eliminated at the Quarter-finals stage of the Norwegian Cup by Stabæk and reached Second qualifying round of the Europa League where they were defeated by FK Sarajevo.

The 2015 season was Viking's third full season with Kjell Jonevret as manager. They are competing in the Tippeligaen and the cup.

The 2017 season is Haugesund's 8th season in the Tippeligaen following their promotion in 2009.

The 2004 season was Molde's 29th season in the top flight of Norwegian football. In Tippeligaen they finished in 11th position.

The 2019 season was Molde's 12th consecutive year in Eliteserien, and their 43rd season in the top flight of Norwegian football. They participated in Eliteserien, winning the title for the 4th time, reached the Third Round of the Cup and were knocked out of the 2019–20 UEFA Europa League in the Playoff Round by FK Partizan after entering at the First qualifying round stage. Molde were scheduled to take part in the 2019 Mesterfinalen against Rosenborg, but the match was cancelled 15 March 2019 due to heavy rain.

The 2019 Norwegian Football Cup Final was the final match of the 2019 Norwegian Football Cup, the 114th season of the Norwegian Football Cup, the premier Norwegian football cup competition organized by the Norwegian Football Federation (NFF). The match was played on 8 December 2019 at the Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo, and opposed two Eliteserien sides, FK Haugesund and Viking FK. 8 December is the latest time of the year the Norwegian Cup Final has ever been played.

The 2020 season was Molde's 13th consecutive year in Eliteserien, and their 44th season in the top flight of Norwegian football. They finished second in the Eliteserien, whilst the Norwegian Cup and Mesterfinalen where cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Norway. In Europe, Molde where knocked out of the 2020–21 UEFA Champions League by Ferencváros dropping into the Europa League where they progressed to the Round of 32 which will take place in the 2021 season.

The 2020 season was Haugesund's 27th competitive season in the clubs history. During this season they competed in the Eliteserien.

The 2021 season is Molde's 14th consecutive year in Eliteserien, and their 45th season in the top flight of Norwegian football. They will also compete in the Norwegian Cup and Europa League and the Europa Conference League.

The 2021 season was Viking's 3rd consecutive year in Eliteserien, and their 71st season in the top flight of Norwegian football. The club participated in the Eliteserien and the Norwegian Cup. It was the club's first season with Bjarte Lunde Aarsheim and Morten Jensen as managers. Viking ended the Eliteserien season in 3rd place, the club's first top-three finish since 2007.
