Village Sounds Agency is an Australian booking agency that represents the live touring of Australasian artists. [1]

Background & Agency Growth

Founded in 1999 by Powderfinger booking agent Jessica Ducrou, the agency has grown to have offices in Byron Bay, Sydney & Melbourne. [2] [3] Ducrou started in the music industry working at Rolling Stone Magazine and later booking the Lansdowne Hotel in Sydney. [4] Prior to starting Village Sounds Agency, in 1996 Ducrou founded Homebake festival in partnership with International Music Concepts (IMC) with a debut lineup that included Grinspoon, Silverchair, Spiderbait and more. In 2001, Ducrou and Paul Piticco co-founded the annual Byron Bay festival Splendour in the Grass to give Powderfinger a platform to perform on. Village Sounds was the primary presenter of Splendour in the Grass from 2001 to 2016, when the company merged with Secret Sounds. [6] [7]

In 2008, Evan Davis of The Harbour Agency joined Village Sounds Agency and was subsequently named in The Music Network’s 30 Under 30 in 2010. [8] [9]

In 2016, Village Sounds Agency was brought under the umbrella of Secret Sounds which consists of Splendour in the Grass, Falls Music & Arts Festival, Secret Sounds Touring, Secret Service Artist Management, Dew Process, Create/Control, Dew Process Publishing, Secret Sounds Brand Partnerships, Whole Lot of Love, and Secret Service Public Relations. In 2016, Jessica Ducrou and Paul Piticco were named #2 in The Music’s annual Power 50, listing the top 50 most powerful people in the Australian Music Industry. [11]

Rock It is an Australian music festival held at the Arena Joondalup in the northern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia. The festival was first held in 1999, and mainly features modern rock music. Along with the nationally-touring Big Day Out, Rock It was one of the major rock concerts held regularly in Perth.

Ground Components were an Australian soul, punk rock band. Formed December 2002 by Indra Adams on bass guitar, Joe McGuigan on lead vocals and guitar, Simon McGuigan on drums and Dallas Paxton on keyboards. Their debut album, An Eye for a Brow, a Tooth for a Pick, reached the ARIA Albums Chart. They disbanded in 2007.

Dream Days at the Hotel Existence is the sixth studio album by Australian rock band Powderfinger, released by Universal Music on 2 June 2007 in Australia, 19 November 2007 in the United Kingdom, and 11 November 2008 in the United States on the Dew Process label. It was released in Australia with a limited edition bonus DVD, titled Powderfinger's First XI, featuring eleven music videos spanning the band's career, from the first single, "Tail" to "Bless My Soul", the band's latest single before the release of the album. A collector's edition, including a CD and DVD, was released on 18 April 2008.

"Black Tears" is a song by Australian alternative rock band Powderfinger, from their sixth studio album Dream Days at the Hotel Existence. The song is an acoustic ballad in a folk music style, beginning with one guitar and a lead vocal, later introducing a guitar with a synthesised effect from the first chorus. Following the Dream Days at the Hotel Existence release, live versions of the song have been released on other recordings.

Pick Up the Pace is the debut EP by Australian alternative rock band The Predators. It was released on 1 July 2006 through Dew Process and Universal Music Australia. The EP was produced after Powderfinger entered a hiatus, and several of its band members sought work with side projects. Following the release of Pick Up the Pace, The Predators embarked on a minor tour around Australia, including a performance at Splendour in the Grass, before officially going on hiatus, around the time Powderfinger reformed.

Paul Piticco is an Australian music and hospitality entrepreneur. He is notable for managing Australian band Powderfinger and organising Splendour In The Grass. He is also Managing Director of Dew Process, Create-Control and Secret Service Music Company.

Golden Rule is the seventh and final studio album by Australian rock band Powderfinger, released on 13 November 2009. The album reunites the band with producer Nick DiDia, who produced several of the group's previous albums including, Internationalist, Odyssey Number Five and Vulture Street.

Owen Orford is an Australian booking agent and concert tour promoter. Orford transitioned from lead singer in Australian touring bands Finch, Contraband and Toys, to venue booker of Sydney venues The Astra Hotel, Bondi Beach and Sydney Cove Tavern from 1979-1982. He went on to promote tours for local and international acts and has booked shows for more than 150 Australian artists.
