The Kite String Tangle (also known as TKST) is the solo project of Brisbane-based alternative electronic artist, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Danny Harley. Harley launched the project in 2012 and released an EP titled Vessel in 2014. He has since issued four studio albums: The Kite String Tangle in 2017, The Kite String Tangle Presents: In a Desperate Moment in 2018, C()D3X in 2020, and Lustre in 2023.

Contents

Career

The Kite String Tangle released "Given the Chance" as the first single under the moniker in 2013, and it was voted into Triple J's Hottest 100 of 2013. [1]

In August 2014, TKST released his debut EP, Vessel, which peaked at number 8 on the ARIA charts. At the ARIA Music Awards of 2014, the EP was nominated for an ARIA Award for Breakthrough Artist. [2]

In 2014, TKST performed at Falls Festival in Marion Bay, Byron Bay, and Lorne, and also performed at regional festival Groovin' the Moo. [3] In 2015, he performed at SxSW [4] and accompanied Adventure Club at Coachella.

On 14 July 2017, The Kite String Tangle released his debut self-titled album. It peaked at number 36 on the ARIA Charts. [5]

On 13 April 2018, a mini-album, titled The Kite String Tangle Presents: In a Desperate Moment, was released.[ citation needed ]

In 2019, TKST released the singles "P()l4r" and "Killing Time".[ citation needed ]

On 31 January 2020, alongside the release of his new single "North", Harley announced that his second studio album, C()D3X, would be released on 20 March 2020. [6]

On 6 October 2023, The Kite String Tangle released the album Lustre. [7]

Jessica Alyssa Cerro, who performs as Montaigne, is an Australian art pop musician and Twitch streamer. Their debut album, Glorious Heights, was released in August 2016 and peaked at No. 4 on the ARIA Albums Chart. At the ARIA Music Awards of 2016 they won Breakthrough Artist – Release for the album and was nominated for three other categories. In April 2016 they were a featured vocalist on Hilltop Hoods' track, "1955", which reached No. 2 on the ARIA Singles Chart. They were supposed to represent Australia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 with their song "Don't Break Me", until the contest was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, they represented Australia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 with the song "Technicolour".

Cub Sport are an Australian pop group formed in Brisbane in early 2010. Founding mainstays are Zoe Davis on keyboards, bass guitar, lead guitar and vocals, Tim Nelson on lead vocals and keyboards, Sam "Bolan" Netterfield on keyboards and vocals, and Dan Puusaari on drums. They have released five studio albums, This Is Our Vice (2016), Bats (2017), Cub Sport (2019), Like Nirvana (2020) and Jesus at the Gay Bar (2023). Jesus at the Gay Bar peaked at number one on the ARIA Albums Chart, Like Nirvana reached number two and Cub Sport appeared at number twelve. Nelson and Netterfield married in August 2018.

Luca Brasi are an Australian rock band formed in St Helens, Tasmania in 2009. The current line-up of the band features Thomas Busby on lead guitar, Danny Flood on drums, Patrick Marshall on rhythm guitar and backing vocals, and Tyler Richardson on lead vocals and bass guitar. To date, the group have released six studio albums: Extended Family (2011), By a Thread (2014), If This Is All We're Going to Be (2016), Stay (2018), Everything Is Tenuous (2021) and The World Don't Owe You Anything (2023). Stay became their first ARIA top 10.

Grace Kathleen Elizabeth Shaw, known professionally as Mallrat, is an Australian musician, singer, and rapper from Brisbane. Mallrat has released three EPs: Uninvited (2016), In the Sky (2018) and Driving Music (2019). She also released her full-length debut studio album titled Butterfly Blue (2022) in May 2022 to critical acclaim. In 2019, her tracks "Groceries" and "UFO" placed at number 7 and 70, respectively, in the 2018 Triple J Hottest 100, in 2020, "Charlie" and "Nobody's Home" placed at number 3 and 59, respectively, in the 2019 Triple J Hottest 100 and in 2021, "Rockstar" placed 13 in the 2020 Triple J Hottest 100.

Dustin Tebbutt is an Australian musician from Armidale, New South Wales. He began recording music in 2013 and released his debut EP, titled The Breach, the same year. He has since released four additional EPs and one full-length album, First Light, in 2016.

In the following year she won the same category for The Return, as well as Best Female Artist and Best Independent Release. In March 2020 Sampa became the first artist to win the Australian Music Prize twice: for Birds and the Bee9 and The Return. The artist was based back in Zambia from late 2020, where she issued her second studio album, As Above, So Below.
