Villmark Asylum (Norwegian : Villmark 2) is a Norwegian horror movie released in 2015. The movie was released to an American audience through Amazon Prime in 2018. [1] [2]
An abandoned sanatorium is decaying in a remote forest in the mountains, where an older janitor makes sure that people or animals do not enter the dangerous building. Five contract workers have taken the job of cleansing the massive building from toxins before it is to be demolished. They have to go through over 300 rooms and several kilometres of pipelines in three days. Water starts flooding out of the old pipes making their work more difficult, and an attempt to close the water leads them down to a dark basement labyrinth.
The movie is a standalone sequel to Dark Woods (Villmark in Norwegian) from 2003, with a different cast and separate story. [3]
The film was set in the former Lyster Sanatorium or Harastølen. [1] [4] The director Pål Øie was inspired to create the film by reading about plans to demolish the defunct sanatorium. [5] [6]
A mobile game based on the film, titled Villmark Sanatoriet, was developed by TurboTape Games. [7]
May Synnøve Rogne of Aftenposten describes the movie as an "effective nightmare", stating that while not necessarily adding to the horror genre, the movie succeeds in its most important point, to be at times "really scary". [8] Jon Selås of Verdens Gang also gave the movie a good review, praising its actors and form of the horror genre. [9] Aksel Kielland in Dagbladet said the film was "visually intelligent but far less smart in terms of plot and theme". [10]

Max Manus: Man of War is a 2008 Norwegian biographical war film based on the real events of the life of resistance fighter Max Manus. The story follows Manus from the Winter War against the Soviet Union, through the outbreak of World War II and the occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany until peacetime in 1945. The film is based on Max Manus's own books Det vil helst gå godt and Det blir alvor, as well as other accounts and historical documentation. The film stays largely historically accurate, but omits some events, and moves some of the supporting characters around to show them taking part in events in place of others. The production included around 1,800 extras and 2,000 workers behind the cameras.
Buddy is a 2003 Norwegian film directed by Morten Tyldum after a script by Lars Gudmestad. The music was composed by Lars Lillo-Stenberg, known from the band DeLillos. The film was well received by critics, and won two Amanda Awards in 2004.
On 29 December 2008, a large-scale series of riots broke out across Oslo, Norway, two days after Israel initiated "Operation Cast Lead" against Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip. Stemming from ongoing pro-Palestinian protests in the city, the initial riots took place outside of the Embassy of Israel and continued for almost two weeks. The most violent and destructive riots took place on 8 and 10 January, when hundreds or thousands of demonstrators spread throughout Oslo and attacked public and private property as well as civilians: the rioters mainly targeted Jews and people suspected of being Jewish, but also attacked people affiliated with the LGBT community and known and suspected pro-Israel activists. Additionally, violent clashes between the demonstrators and Norwegian police officers led to hundreds of injuries. Between 29 December and 10 January, the Oslo Police had arrested around 200 people, mostly Muslims, of whom a significant number were registered asylum seekers. The rioters had been supported by left-wing activists of Blitz.

Nicolai Cleve Broch is a Norwegian theatre and film actor. He rose to national fame playing one of the leading roles in the 2002 drama series Lekestue, which aired on NRK in 2002. He is also known for playing the protagonist in Buddy, a romantic comedy from 2003. Other major film credits include Uno, Uro and Den siste revejakta. More recently, Cleve Broch was nominated for an Amanda Award for his portrayal of World War II resistance fighter Gregers Gram in Max Manus. Often appearing alongside Aksel Hennie, the two have been referred to as "Norway's Ben Affleck and Matt Damon".
Joshua Olav Daniel Hodne French is a Norwegian-British man who was convicted of murder in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He worked as a security contractor with his friend Tjostolv Moland when they were arrested in May 2009, and he was later convicted of attempted murder, armed robbery, the formation of a criminal association and espionage for Norway, of which he and Moland were found guilty and sentenced to death. In 2014 he was also convicted of the murder of Moland. He was released in 2017 after serving 8 years of his sentence, and returned to Norway.
Tjostolv Moland was a former Norwegian army officer and private security contractor or ex-mercenary arrested in May 2009 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), and convicted of murdering their driver and espionage for Norway.
Headhunters is a 2011 Norwegian action thriller film based on the 2008 novel of the same name by Jo Nesbø. The film was directed by Morten Tyldum and stars Aksel Hennie, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Synnøve Macody Lund. Hennie portrays the successful but insecure corporate recruiter Roger Brown who lives a double life as an art thief to fund his lavish lifestyle. He discovers that one of his job prospects owns a valuable painting and sets out to steal it.
Bjørnar Moxnes is a Norwegian politician and activist representing the left-wing political party, the Red Party in the Storting. Moxnes opposes the European Union, characterizing Norway's participation in the EEA as undemocratic. Moxnes describes himself as a socialist. He served as the leader of the Red Party from 2012 to 2023, when he resigned in the wake of stealing a pair of sunglasses from a shop at Oslo Airport Gardermoen. Moxnes had previously served as the party's deputy leader from 2010 to 2012.
The 2013 Valdresekspressen hijacking was a hijacking of an express bus running on the Nor-Way Bussekspress Valdresekspressen route, which took place east of Øvre Årdal on 4 November 2013. The driver and both passengers were killed.

It is a remake of the 2012 Dutch film Achtste Groepers Huilen Niet, which was based on the book Achtste-groepers huilen niet by Jacques Vriens. Harastølen, formerly Lyster Sanatorium, was a tuberculosis sanatorium and later psychiatric hospital in Norway established in 1902, located on a remote hill some 500 metres above Lustrafjorden in Luster, Sogn. A 5,000 square metre large building, the sanatorium had its own water power supply, and was accessed by an aerial tramway.
Roger Valhammer is a Norwegian politician from the Labour Party. He served as chief commissioner of Bergen from 2019 to 2022, and previously served as city commissioner for schools, kindergartens and sports between 2018 and 2019.
