Vincent Mumo Kiilu (born 3 August 1982) is a former Kenyan sprint runner and hurdler who has competed in the 2008 and the 2012 Olympic Games. [1] He has twice competed at the Commonwealth Games (2006 and 2010), including a relay silver medal on his second appearance. He was selected for Kenya at the World Championships in Athletics in 2003 and 2011. He recently worked as an athletic coach in different capacity, from assistant coach to a head coach.
In the 2012 Olympic 4x400 meter relay semifinal heat, Kiilu cut in front of South Africa's Ofentse Mogawane and both runners fell. Mogawane dislocated his shoulder and was unable to complete the race. The South African team filed an appeal, and the Kenyan team was disqualified when the IAAF ruled that Kiilu had obstructed Mogawane. [2]
Kiilu is affiliated with the Kenyan army and has won medals at the 2003 Military World Games and the 2002 Africa Military Games [1]
Moses Kiptanui is a Kenyan middle and long distance athlete mostly famous for 3000 metres steeplechase in which he was the number one ranked athlete from 1991 to 1995 and three time IAAF World Champion. Kiptanui was the first man to ever run the 3000m steeplechase in under eight minutes. He is also known for his coaching role in his later years with Tarbert GAA.
Saif Saaeed Shaheen, formerly Stephen Cherono, is a retired steeplechase runner. He was born in Keiyo, Kenya but now he represents Qatar. He was, for 19 years, the world record holder for 3000 metre steeplechase. He is a two time World Champion in the event. His older brother Abraham Cherono is also a steeplechase runner.
Olusoji Adetokunbo Fasuba is a Nigerian sprinter who specializes in the 100 metres. He was the African record holder in the event with 9.85 seconds until Akani Simbine broke it in July 2021 with 9.84 seconds.
Ahmad Hassan Abdullah is a long-distance and cross country runner, now representing Qatar after his switch from Kenya in 2003. Other runners who have made the same switch include Saif Saeed Shaheen.
Augustine Kiprono Choge is a Kenyan middle distance and long distance runner.
Louis Jacobus van Zyl, better known as L. J. van Zyl, is a South African athlete competing in the 400 metre hurdles. He is the South African record holder in the event with a personal best of 47.66 seconds, which he achieved twice, three months apart. His time ranks him in the all-time top 25. He is a three-time African Champion in the event and competed for his country at the 2008, 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics.

Mark Kosgey Kiptoo is a Kenyan long-distance runner who set the world record in the marathon for the Masters age group by running 2:07:50 in the 2018 Frankfurt Marathon. He also specialized in the 5000 metres throughout his career. He is a two-time gold medalist in the event at the Military World Games and won bronze medals over the distance at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and the 2010 African Championships in Athletics. He has also represented Kenya at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships and the All-Africa Games.
Silas Kiplagat is a Kenyan middle-distance runner who specialises in the 1500 metres. He has a personal best of 3:27.64 minutes, which makes him the sixth fastest of all-time over the distance.
