Vinita Vasu is a visual artist and designer residing in Delhi, India. She directed a short film named Beaming Blossom which won her a Special Festival Mention Award at the Children's International Cine Festival in the year 2016.
In a career spanning over a decade, Vasu has worked in paint and varied media. She paints on walls, fabrics, canvas, paper, fiberglass, bottles, boards, pebbles, and stones. Born in Kerala, and brought up in Delhi, Vasu won all the art competitions she participated in, during her school years. However, she could not pursue a degree in fine art education.
She explains that "In my works colors, shapes and patterns are used to celebrate the journey of life. Although my consciousness is the fundamental source of all my creations, it reflects the phenomenal visual experience of body, mind, and soul." [1]
Her artworks are often a statement against negative perceptions of women from her perspective as someone who grew up in Delhi. In her own words, “There are bondages of various kinds that women everywhere face. In Delhi, where I come from, women cannot walk free at night without fear. But I look at the positive side, at the hope that these women bear rather than dwelling on the dark side.” [1]

The National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) is the premier art gallery under Ministry of Culture, Government of India. The main museum at Jaipur House in New Delhi was established on 29 March 1954 by the Government of India, with subsequent branches at Mumbai and Bangalore. Its collection of more than 1700 works by 2000 plus artists includes artists such as Thomas Daniell, Raja Ravi Verma, Abanindranath Tagore, Rabindranath Tagore, Gaganendranath Tagore, Nandalal Bose, Jamini Roy, Amrita Sher-Gil as well as foreign artists. Some of the oldest works preserved here date back to 1857. With 12,000 square meters of exhibition space, the Delhi branch is one of the world's largest modern art museums.
Sayed Haider Raza was an Indian painter who lived and worked in France for most of his career. Born on 22 February 1922 in Kakkaiya, Central Provinces, British India, Raza moved to France in 1950, marrying the French artist Janine Mongillat in 1959. Following her death from cancer in 2002, Raza returned to India in 2010, where he would live until his death on 28 July 2016.

Arpita Singh is an Indian artist. Known to be a figurative artist and a modernist, her canvases have both a story line and a carnival of images arranged in a curiously subversive manner. Her artistic approach can be described as an expedition without destination. Her work reflects her background. She brings her inner vision of emotions to the art inspired by her own background and what she sees around the society that mainly affects women. Her works also include traditional Indian art forms and aesthetics, like miniaturist painting and different forms of folk art, employing them in her work regularly.
Pratiksha Apurv is an Indian painter, whose work is based on her uncle Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh (Osho)'s teachings. Before moving to painting, she was a successful fashion designer. Apurv won the National Award 2015-16 given by the Lalit Kala Akademi, Ministry of Culture for her painting 'Cosmic Balance', and has exhibited her artwork across the country. Her artwork has featured in books and magazines, and in 2018 she wrote and illustrated her own book, The Mystic and Her Colours.
Neeraj Gupta is an Indian sculptor. He took second prize in the sculpture section of the Florence Biennale in 2017, one of over a hundred winners in eleven sections. Gupta became the first Indian artist to win Florence Biennale Award. In 2018 he was one of the two hundred artists accepted to exhibit at the annual NordArt exhibition in the Carlshütte of Büdelsdorf, in Schleswig-Holstein in northern Germany. Keshav Malik was his guru.
Jatin Das is an Indian painter, sculptor and muralist. He is counted amongst the leading contemporary artists of India.
Prafulla Dahanukar was an Indian painter, a leader in modern Indian art who also helped and influenced many young artists in India.
Somenath Maity is an Indian artist known for his oil paintings of urban landscapes.
Samir Mondal is an Indian watercolour painter. His main contribution to Indian art of modern times is a continual revival of watercolour painting.
Ananta Mandal is an Indian artist. He has been recognized with international and national honours for his watercolour, oil, and acrylic paintings. He lives and works in Mumbai, India.
Manu Parekh is an Indian painter, known for his several paintings on the city of Varanasi. Reported to be influenced by Rabindranath Tagore and Ram Kinker Baij, Parekh is a recipient of the 1982 Lalit Kala Akademi Award. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian award of the Padma Shri, in 1991.
Ranbir Singh Bisht (1928–1998) was an Indian painter and the Principal of the College of Fine Arts, Lucknow University. Born in 1928 at Landsdowne in Garhwal, in the present day Indian state of Uttarakhand, he secured Drawing Teacher's Training Certificate and Diploma in Fine Arts from the Government College of Art and Craft, Lucknow. He conducted many solo shows in a number of Indian cities besides a show in New York and participated in group shows in Frankfurt and Tokyo. He was also a participant of the 4th Triennale at New Delhi in 1972.
Biren De (1926–2011) was an Indian painter of modern art, known for his paintings with tantric influences. His paintings were characterized by symmetrical patterns of geometry and the presence of tantric symbols such as mandala, phallus and vagina, reportedly representing masculine and feminine energies of the universe. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri in 1992.
Karuna Sukka is an Indian printmaker and painter from Telangana State who works with large-scale wood-cuts to make prints.
Sudip Roy is an Indian artist whose works include water colours and abstract paintings.
Uma Bardhan is an Indian contemporary artist. Her paintings are usually themed on stories and positions which are under-represented in both mainstream and contemporary art culture. Her preferred medium is water color on silk, and she has also worked in other media, including oil on canvas. Her paintings are in several major collections in India & abroad. Her works has been hugely inspired by her formative years in Kolkata and her deep belief in spirituality. Originally from Kolkata she lives & works in Gurgaon, Haryana
Vasundhara Tewari Broota is an Indian painter who does figurative paintings based on the perception of a woman and the psycho-political existence of the female body, traditional landscapes, still life with exquisite meaning. She worked on a cultural scholarship awarded by the Department of Culture, Government of India during 1982-84. She, Jatin Das and other 298 artists had donated art work for 2018 Kerala floods through an exhibition cum sale held in The National Gallery of Modern Art.
Jagadish Chandra Dey, also known as Jagdish Dey, is an Indian painter and printmaker, known for his unique style of surrealism, where the real and unreal coexist. He has been a member of many art societies and juries.
Sangeeta Gupta, a retired Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, is an Indian abstract artist, poet and filmmaker. She is the first woman who qualified Civil Services from her district in Uttar Pradesh, India. She is an officer of 1984 batch IRS. Her artistic journey so far consist of 35 solo exhibitions of paintings, 25 published books including Fourteen anthologies of poems in Hindi and six in English. From her collection of poems, 10 books are translated into German, Greek, Mandarin, English, Bangla, Dogri, Tamil and Urdu. She has also directed, scripted and shot 30 documentary films, 6 of which are in the collection of the US Library of Congress. Song of the Cosmos is her creative biography.
