Vishal Prakashbapu Patil is an Indian politician and Lok Sabha MP representing Sangli since 2024. [1] [2] He is a member of the Indian National Congress and was elected as an Independent from Sangli. [3] [4] [5] [6]

Personal life

Vishal Patil is the grandson of former Chief Minister Vasantdada Patil. He is the son of former MP Prakashbapu Vasantdada Patil and Mahila Pradesh Congress leader Shailja Patil, while former Union Minister of State for Coal Pratik Prakashbapu Patil is his elder brother. His wife's name is Pooja, and he has two daughters, Ehita and Aritra. [7]

Career

In 2019, Patil contested in the Sangli Lok Sabha constituency under the Swabhimani Paksha party banner. [8] However, he lost against Bharatiya Janata Party's Sanjaykaka Patil by a margin of 164,352 votes. [9]

In 2024, Vishal Patil ran as an independent candidate after the Indian National Congress party could not reach an agreement with its ally in the Sangli constituency, Shiv Sena (UBT), to have him run under their ticket as they had fielded wrestler Chandrahar Patil. [10] [11] Vishal Patil won the election and was elected to the Parliament of India. [12] [13] Vishal Patil extended his support to the INDIA coalition more specifically the Indian National Congress and thus claims to be the 100th Member of Parliament of the Indian National Congress.

General elections were held in India from 19 April to 1 June 2024 in seven phases, to elect all 543 members of the Lok Sabha. Votes were counted and the result was declared on 4 June to form the 18th Lok Sabha. On 7 June 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi confirmed the support of 293 MPs to Droupadi Murmu, the president of India. Sushil Kumar Rinku is an Indian politician and a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party He was a member of parliament from the Jalandhar constituency after winning in 2023 jalandhar by-election but in 2024 he lost to Congress candidate and former Chief minister of Punjab Charanjit Singh Channi. He previously belonged to the Aam Aadmi Party and Indian National Congress. In 2017, he was elected as a member of the Punjab Legislative Assembly from Jalandhar West on Indian National Congress ticket.

The 18th Lok Sabha was formed after general elections were held in India over seven phases from 19 April to 1 June 2024, to elect all members from 543 constituencies of the Lok Sabha. Gurupadagouda Sanganagouda Patil is an Indian politician from Karnataka. He is a four time MLA from Ron Assembly constituency in Gadag district. He won the 2023 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election representing Indian National Congress.
