Early life and education

Born in Bucharest, Romania, Manasc moved to Canada with her parents in her childhood. She graduated from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec with a Bachelor of Architecture degree in 1980. [2] [3]

Career

Manasc is principal in the firm Manasc Isaac. [1] Projects by her firm include the City of Calgary Water Centre, [4] [5] and the Mosaic Centre for Conscious Community and Commerce, a net-zero commercial building in Edmonton, Alberta. [5]

As of 2021, Manasc is the chair of the board of Athabasca University. [2]

She was awarded the Alberta Order of Excellence in 2017. [6]

The City of Calgary Water Centre is the headquarters of Calgary's Water Resources and Water Services' staff, housing its 460 professional and 314 field staff. The four-story office building was completed in 2008, and upon opening was both the largest LEED-rated office building in Alberta and Alberta's first Gold-certified building. The building was designed through a collaboration between Sturgess Architecture and Manasc Isaac.

Sarah Marjorie Hoffman is a Canadian politician who served as the 10th deputy premier of Alberta and Minister of Health in the cabinet of Rachel Notley. Hoffman was previously a member of the Edmonton Public School Board, where she served from 2010 to 2015 and from 2012 onward as chair. Prior to her service on the school board, she was the research director of the Alberta Legislature New Democrat caucus. After stepping down from the School Board, she was elected in the 2015 Alberta general election to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta representing the electoral district of Edmonton-Glenora for the Alberta NDP. Muriel Kovitz C.M. LL.D LRSM served as the Chancellor of the University of Calgary in Alberta from 1974 until 1978. She was the first female to hold the position.
