Vladimir Dmitrievich Gordeev (born 30 November 1950 in Georgia, Soviet Union) [1] is a former motorcycle speedway rider and was a member of the Soviet Union national speedway team.
Gordeev won the Soviet Championship on three occasions in 1971, 1973 and 1974 [2] [3] and the Russian Championship twice, in 1972 and 1976. [4]
He reached the finals of the Speedway World Championship three times in 1971, [5] 1974 and 1976. [6] [7] However, he was disqualified in the 1971 Individual Speedway World Championship final for using illegal fuel additives.
In 1974, he won the Continental Speedway final. [3]
His younger brother Valery Gordeev is also a former rider who reached the World Final on five occasions.
Peter Spencer Collins MBE is a former speedway rider who spent his whole career (1971–1986) with the Belle Vue Aces, the team he supported as a child.
Zenon Plech was a Polish international motorcycle speedway rider. He finished third in the Speedway World Championship in 1973 and as the runner-up in 1979. He earned 76 international caps for the Poland national speedway team.
