Triglav National Park National park in Slovenia

Triglav National Park (TNP) is the only national park in Slovenia. It was established in its modern form in 1981 and is located in the northwestern part of the country, respectively the southeastern part of the Alpine massif. Mount Triglav, the highest peak of the Julian Alps, stands almost in the middle of the national park. From it the valleys spread out radially, supplying water to two large river systems with their sources in the Julian Alps: the Soča and the Sava, flowing to the Adriatic and Black Sea, respectively.

The Triglav Lakes Valley is a rocky hanging valley in the Julian Alps in Slovenia, below the sheer sides of Mount Tičarica and Mount Zelnarica southwest of Triglav. The valley is also called the Seven Lakes Valley, although there are ten and not seven lakes in the valley. It is above the tree line and is geologically alpine karst; therefore it has also been termed the Sea of Stone Valley.

Bohinj

Bohinj, or the Bohinj Valley or Bohinj Basin, is a 20 km long and 5 km wide basin in the Julian Alps, in the Upper Carniola region of northwestern Slovenia. It is traversed by the Sava Bohinjka river. Its main feature is the periglacial Lake Bohinj. Bohinj is part of the Municipality of Bohinj, the seat of which is Bohinjska Bistrica.

Lake Bohinj

Lake Bohinj, covering 318 hectares, is the largest permanent lake in Slovenia. It is located within the Bohinj Valley of the Julian Alps, in the northwestern Upper Carniola region, and part of Triglav National Park.

Sava Bohinjka

The Sava Bohinjka is a headwater of the Sava River in northwestern Slovenia. At 41 kilometres (25 mi) in length, it is the shorter of the two headwaters that become the Sava River in Radovljica, the other being the 45 km (28 mi)-long Sava Dolinka.

Big Pasture Plateau Mountain plateau in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, Slovenia

The Big Pasture Plateau is a karstified mountain plateau in the Kamnik–Savinja Alps northeast of Kamnik, Slovenia. It measures 5.8 square kilometres and has an average elevation of 1,500 metres above sea level. Its highest point is Mount Gradišče, at 1,666 m (5,466 ft). There are numerous herders' dwellings that comprise several settlement areas: Velika Planina 'Big Pasture', Mala Planina 'Little Pasture', Gojška Planina 'Gozd Pasture', Tiha Dolina 'Quiet Valley', and others. The Big Pasture Plateau is a tourist destination both in winter as a ski resort and in summer as a place for relaxation.

Vogel Ski Resort

Vogel Ski Resort is a Slovenian ski resort located above Bohinj next to Lake Bohinj. The nearest city is Bled. Ljubljana is about an hour away. The resort was opened in 1964. It has a total of 22 kilometres (14 mi) of ski slopes, 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) tracks for cross country skiing and a snowboard park. The ski resort is located on the outskirts of Triglav National Park, therefore all snowmaking activities are forbidden on the area. The ski resort is named after nearby Mount Vogel.

Krvavec Ski Resort

The Krvavec Ski Resort is the second-largest Slovenian ski resort, located in the Municipality of Cerklje na Gorenjskem in the Kamnik–Savinja Alps. The nearest city is Kranj and it is 25 km from Ljubljana. The resort is located 10 km from Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport and it is the nearest ski resort to an international airport in Europe. It has a total 30 km of ski slopes.

Kobla Ski Resort is a Slovenian ski resort located at Bohinjska Bistrica on Kobla mountain in municipality of Bohinj. It has 23 km of ski slopes. The closest city is Bled, half an hour away. The resort used to be serviced by a special ski train platform adjacent to the resort's car park, and close to the lower slopes. The nearest airports are Ljubljana and Trieste. The resort is now owned by a company called 2864 Bohinj, the principal shareholder of which is Leitner. The plan is to build three new circular cable cars: One from Bohinj to Ravne, the second from Ravne to the top of Kobla, and a third which will form an extension of the old ski area to Slatnik. The T bar lift on the lower slope 'Kozji hrbet' is already refurbished, and opened on 11 December 2021.

Kanjavec is a 2,569-metre (8,428 ft) mountain in the center of Triglav National Park. It lies between the Dolič Pass at 2,164 m, the Hribarice Pass at 2,306 m and the Prehodavci Pass at 2071 m. Kanjavec is also a popular ski touring destination. From the summit, there is a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains. It is relatively easy to ascend, with a few exposed areas.

Triglav Lakes Lodge

The Triglav Lakes Lodge is a mountain lodge between Double Lake and the artificial Lake Močivec below Mount Tičarica in the heart of the Julian Alps, northwestern Slovenia. The first structure was built in 1880 by an Austrian hiking club. In 1955 and 1988, it was rebuilt and expanded. It has four dining rooms with 150 seats, 13 rooms with 30 beds, and 13 larger sleeping rooms with 170 bunks. The lodge is open from the end of June until the start of October

Begunjščica

Begunjščica is a ridge mountain in the Karawanks. It rises from the western Smokuč mountain pasture to St. Anne on its eastern side. The mountain has three main peaks, the highest being Big Peak. The western Middle Peak lies a little lower, and the lowest is Begunje Mount Vrtača. Its southern slopes rise over the Draga Valley. The ascent of the mountain is relatively easy and possible throughout the year. In the winter and early spring conditions are favourable for ski touring.
