WSC Group (also known as WSC Ltd, or simply WSC) is a private motorsport organisation that owns and manages the TCR Touring Car Racing concept, including the rights to its name, logo and technical regulations for touring car racing.
The idea for TCR was conceived in 2014 by motorsport promoter Marcello Lotti, who had previously been involved in international touring car championships. In 2015, WSC officially launched the first TCR International Series, introducing a new global touring car formula based on cost-effective production models. [1]
Since then, WSC has licensed the TCR format to promoters worldwide, managed homologation of eligible models, and supervised the sporting and technical framework of more than 30 national and regional TCR series. [2] These include championships such as the TCR Europe, TCR China, TCR Eastern Europe, TCR South America, among others. The newest addition is the TCR Panama, founded in 2025.
WSC’s main activities include:
Within less than a decade, WSC’s TCR platform has become one of the most widely adopted touring car formulas worldwide. The concept focuses on cost control, production-based vehicles and cross-series compatibility, allowing the same car to compete in multiple TCR championships with minimal modification. [2]
In 2020, WSC launched the all-electric touring car concept known as ETCR (later rebranded as FIA eTouring Car World Cup). [5] In 2025, WSC and IMSA announced an extension of their cooperation, confirming the continued presence of TCR-specification cars in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge through 2028. [4]
