Hills lived near Baltimore, Maryland, and served in the United States Army during World War II.
Fiji sent a delegation to compete at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, United States from 28 July to 12 August 1984. This was the nation's sixth appearance at a Summer Olympic Games. Sailing/Yachting is an Olympic sport starting from the Games of the 1st Olympiad. With the exception of 1904 and the canceled 1916 Summer Olympics, sailing has always been included on the Olympic schedule. The sailing program of 1976 consisted of six sailing classes (disciplines). For each class, seven races were scheduled from 19 July 1976 to 27 July 1976 off the coast of Kingston, Ontario, on Lake Ontario. The sailing was done on the triangular-type Olympic courses.

Warren James Potent is an Australian sport shooter. He won the bronze medal in the 50 metre rifle prone at the 2008 Summer Olympics. He won two of the four competitions during the 2007 World Cup season. In the 2008 ISSF World Cup, he won two bronzes as well as the gold in the pre-Olympic event in Beijing, where he equalled Christian Klees's then world record for the final aggregate score. At the 2014 ISSF World Championships in Grenada he became the 50 metre rifle prone World Champion.

Sierra Leone competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, from 27 July to 12 August 2012. This marked the nation's tenth appearance at the Summer Olympics since its debut in the 1968 Summer Olympics. The Sierra Leone delegation included two track and field athletes; Ibrahim Turay, a sprinter and Ola Sesay, a long jumper. Sesay and Turay were selected as flag bearers for the opening and closing ceremonies respectively. Neither of the two athletes progressed beyond the first round.
