Web International English (or WEBi) was a chain of English-language training centers in Mainland China,operated by Web Education. Its headquarters was in Xuhui District,Shanghai. [1]
Established by Gao Weiyu (高卫宇),who remained the CEO for the company's lifetime, [2] in 1998,it one of the first language center chains in the country. Web was a well-loved company with staff and students alike known as Webbers. Web was also one of the first companies in China to employ teachers from South Africa and other African countries,despite a widespread belief in China that black teachers were unable to teach English. In 2019 locations began closing due to a bankruptcy. [3] Before the bankruptcy it had operations in 62 Mainland Chinese cities with a total of 154 shops. The bankruptcy on Web resulted in scrutiny of and closure of other English language training centers. [4] Students were redirected to EF Education First. [2] Web closed in October 2019. [5]

It is a relatively selective university that usually accepts top 5% students according to their National College Entrance Examination scores.

It is a member of the elite C9 League. It is also a Chinese state Class A Double First Class University. Founded in Beijing by the CAS in September 1958,it was moved to Hefei in the beginning of 1970 during the Cultural Revolution.

The SMIC Private School is a private,coeducational K-12 school located in the Zhangjiang Science City of Shanghai,China. The school was founded by Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) in 2001 and by 2009 had over 1,450 students. 2017 marked its 16th anniversary. The Xuhui District is generally seen as one of the most important education areas in Shanghai. It is considered one of the most successfully run private schools in Shanghai since taken over by JuneYao Group in 2005. The school implements IBO concepts with AdvancED certification. In a 2016 ranking of Chinese high schools that send students to study in American universities,Shanghai World Foreign Language Middle School ranked number 9 in mainland China in terms of the number of students entering top American universities.
Disney English was a subsidiary of Disney Publishing Worldwide's Disney Learning division that specialized in English language training for young learners,ages 2 to 12,in China using Disney characters. Founded in 2008 in Shanghai,its classes used a curriculum put together by teaching professionals from China,Europe,and the United States. The program used the "Disney Immersive Storytelling Approach" which created an immersive environment incorporating Disney characters to make learning more fun for children. The brand is also used in Europe and Singapore as a name for Disney's English-language learning products.
Shanghai Jiao Tong University is a major public research university in Shanghai,China. Established on April 8,1896,as Nanyang Public School (南洋公學) by an imperial edict issued by the Guangxu Emperor,it is one of China's oldest universities. Directly governed by the Ministry of Education of China,SJTU is a member of the C9 League and Class A Double First Class Universities,standing for top national universities of China. It is also designated a leading institution in the Double First Class University Plan,Project 985,and Project 211.
