Weekend is an American lo-fi or shoegaze [1] trio from San Francisco, California. The band formed in 2009 [3] and released two EPs, with the full-length debut album Sports coming on Slumberland Records in 2010. [4] The album received an 8.2 rating from Pitchfork Media. [5] It also received 4/5 stars on Tinymixtapes [1] and was also reviewed by National Public Radio, [6] the Portland Mercury , [7] Boston Phoenix , [8] NME , [9] Drowned in Sound, [10] Brooklyn Vegan, [11] The Onion's AV Club, [12] and PopMatters. [13]

Contents

Sports was also mentioned in Sports Illustrated alongside the more commercially successful album with the same name by Huey Lewis and the News. [14]

Their song "End Times" was used in a commercial to promote Season 6 of Dexter .

The band released their second album, Jinx, on July 23, 2013, on Slumberland Records. [15]

In late 2018, Weekend toured with Nothing and Thursday.

The New Life is the second album by Northern Irish band Girls Names. It was released on 18 February 2013 by Tough Love Records in Europe and on 12 March 2013 by Slumberland Records in the USA. Its release was preceded by the album's title track "The New Life" as a single on 13 November 2012 and the song "Hypnotic Regression" as a download-only single on 10 December 2012. The album cover features a photograph by Rob Peart. The New Life received an aggregate score of 76 out of 100 according to review aggregator website Metacritic, indicating "generally favorable reviews".

<i>1,000 Years</i> 2010 studio album by the Corin Tucker Band

1,000 Years is the first album by the Corin Tucker Band, released on October 5, 2010, and the first album Tucker released since Sleater-Kinney went on "hiatus" in 2006. She recorded the album along with Seth Lorinczi and Julianna Bright of both Golden Bears and Circus Lupus, as well as Sara Lund of Hungry Ghost and Unwound. Lorinzci was also the album's producer. The only single released from 1,000 Years was "Doubt".
